MargaretR @margr.bsky.social · 08/10/2026This is abhorrent and I am outraged on your behalf. Also on behalf of other authors it must be happening to and the dreadful path this is all following. 030
MargaretR @margr.bsky.social · 03/10/2026A very happy birthday to you both! Cake and biscuits? 🎂 🦴 (I was thinking of the dog biscuits that look like bones, nearest I can find!) 000
MargaretR @margr.bsky.social · 02/10/2026There are so many old ferry crossing points along the river. Shame. No longer required and not viable in these days but our ancestors had so many more everyday links from one side to the other. 110
MargaretR @margr.bsky.social · 30/09/2026I am not noticing that at all. Meanwhile up in my home villages in Yorkshire there has been theft of broadband cabling. Everyone without broadband, telephones etc. For 2 days now. Reinforces my opinion that digital dependency is not a thing for good. 020
MargaretR @margr.bsky.social · 30/09/2026I love a Eureka moment. Apart from shouting loudly I have been known to dance a little jig! 010
MargaretR @margr.bsky.social · 30/09/2026I think it is my favourite castle. From being a child I have always been drawn to it, a special feeling I get when wandering around like its history oozes out of the walls. I don’t feel that the same in other castles, interesting and fascinating though they may be. 071
MargaretR @margr.bsky.social · 28/09/2026Can anyone explain why, on tv detective type shows, the professional criminal investigators never seem to close their curtains? So that the unknown person hiding in the hedge outside can take photos of who is indoors and of what they are doing. Or use a weapon. Makes no sense. Except the script. 010
MargaretR @margr.bsky.social · 28/09/2026For a moment I thought that said ‘Online Fencing Course’ and was thinking, how 🤔 Until I read it properly!! 000
Reposted by MargaretRFriends of Friendless Churches @friendlesschurches.bsky.social · 28/09/2026The talented organist Ben Maton recently visited St Mary of the Angels', Brownshill, Gloucestershire and played JS Bach’s Prelude in C Major arranged for the analogue modelling synthesiser. 1279
MargaretR @margr.bsky.social · 28/09/2026That stopped me in my tracks this morning. What a beautiful and serene way to start the day. 000
MargaretR @margr.bsky.social · 28/09/2026I haven’t seen it at all. I was well down the first column before I found anything I had seen! Just checked through again and must correct myself, I have seen 6. Too busy with my books! 010
MargaretR @margr.bsky.social · 25/09/2026Our Mr TimothyCat was a foodie 😸 Poor little Brownie, he roamed around the house living happily with our menagerie. He had an outdoor pen that my dad built for him. We had a big garden but he could move quite fast! The dog in question belonged to a contractor working next door. Didn’t apologise 😠 010
MargaretR @margr.bsky.social · 25/09/2026Love them both but oh look at Doris 😍 My tortoise was called Brownie (not the most imaginative but I was only 3!). Is Doris still with you? Brownie was murdered by a Jack Russell. A long, sad story. We’d had him 15 years by then 😢😢 210
MargaretR @margr.bsky.social · 22/09/2026The writer of Open All Hours was married to my Dad’s cousin. Her family ran a corner shop (just at the top of the road where I grew up) which many are sure was the inspiration for Arkwright’s shop. 130
MargaretR @margr.bsky.social · 20/09/2026My chocolate coated profiterole just rolled off my plate, across my knee, and onto the floor 😩 000
MargaretR @margr.bsky.social · 20/09/2026I haven’t done my #MuseumOfFamilyStuff thing for a while, so here is a photo popped up whilst I was looking for something else. Compass belonged to my Grandad, Royal Engineers #WW1 #FWW #GreatWar 020
MargaretR @margr.bsky.social · 18/09/2026Might have to trot (see what I did there?😆) the old poem out again… “As his horse in the silence champed the grass…..” 020
MargaretR @margr.bsky.social · 18/09/2026Congratulations! Becoming a grandmother was (and is) wonderful. Becoming Great Aunt Margaret the same year just sounds old 👵🏻😆 010
MargaretR @margr.bsky.social · 15/09/2026I have friends who live between Ely and March. Each time I visit I intend to call into March (then maybe up to Crowland) but I always head straight home. I would like to see St Etheldreda’s church in March, with the tower over the pavement. 010
MargaretR @margr.bsky.social · 11/09/2026Apologies. Now I understand. On my first reading of Whitby Witches I was, as we say in Yorkshire, proper frit! But couldn’t put it down and had to read the next. 100
MargaretR @margr.bsky.social · 11/09/2026Each to their own. But using profane words against someone’s work is not how I operate. “Not my thing” suffices. Although these books, much to my surprise, were my thing. 120
MargaretR @margr.bsky.social · 11/09/2026Fantasy fiction for children, which is not my genre but knowing Whitby there is part of it I can feel. Spooky and more! I enjoyed the full series of those books. 020
MargaretR @margr.bsky.social · 11/09/20267.30pm and my outdoor solar lights came on. Flippin’ ‘eck 😧 000
MargaretR @margr.bsky.social · 11/09/2026Did you read ‘Whitby Witches’ by Robin Jarvis before you went? A children’s book but I first read it as an adult and couldn’t cope with it being on the bedside table at night 🤣 Love that series. No lingering in the alleyways and courtyards after dark. Or up by the church 😳 230
MargaretR @margr.bsky.social · 11/09/2026I have known of St Mary’s from visits to Whitby since childhood but only went inside for the first time a few years ago. A delightful surprise. 010
MargaretR @margr.bsky.social · 11/09/2026I thought just the same whilst opening the blinds a few minutes ago. 110
MargaretR @margr.bsky.social · 10/09/2026Facebook memory today. Very me but also thought of you @thebooktrail.bsky.social 📚📚📚 😊 120
MargaretR @margr.bsky.social · 09/09/2026I just wish he was in my family tree. Or Suckling Spendlove. Much easier to trace than the Frank Smiths of this world 🤣 110
MargaretR @margr.bsky.social · 06/09/2026Facebook memory from a clearing/tidying day 10 years ago. But also something from my #MuseumOfFamilyStuff. I still have it (and a record player to play it on!). 010
MargaretR @margr.bsky.social · 05/09/2026Another good Facebook memory this morning. The day I waited patiently for the Red Arrows to fly past our windows, and just as I snapped a photo a ‘friend’ joined them! 🐦 020
MargaretR @margr.bsky.social · 05/09/2026The den every child wants! Mine was up in big, old pear tree. A door was the floor 😊 110

MargaretR @margr.bsky.social · 04/09/2026She is now 14 and 5’ 7” ! I remind her of this conversation regularly 😆 010
