Truly. I think the main changes would be altering death rules (something that other supplements have done to great success). Imagine a dungeon full of not monsters you could make food from, but monsters that are *already* food whose life cycles require being eaten by adventurers 🤣

I got stuck on how fun it would be to bundle D&D combat into a roguelike remix of the Stardew Valley mines with fast leveling where "dying" brings you back to town and resets your level + roguelike benefits for getting deeper next time. That's the least cozy part of a cozy game, but it seems *fun*.

Everybody knows you can cut a deal in an MTG commander game, but you rarely see players in a TeamFight Tactics lobby agree to buy a meta comp's champs to make it unplayable. Hate a game's meta? Draw Steel is a gonzo game. Heroes are hardier, more mobile, and can yeet foes easier than in 5e. That informs what players look for in maps. Bare minimum, if you put an object on the map, it has to hurt when folks slam into it. But you should really go further. Lean into dynamic terrain objects.

The individual Acts of the epic Crack the Sun adventure sound like such bangers. I'm curious to see how they guide players between adventures because 1) weak links between adventures are such a long-standing problem in big campaigns and 2) I trust the MCDM team to come up with a great solution.

If you like TTRPG characters with secrets, traumas, or fears, I have an easy hack for making it really fun at the table. Attach the key to your character's growth or their motivation for confronting their fears to helping/interacting with another player character and watch how much RP it inspires.
