Hey, guess what? I’m keynoting BSides Twin Cities on October 23! My talk is called “We Keep Us Safe” and connects local community defense and protecting our neighbors to cybersecurity and fighting for the users. Local community conferences like this are so important. Come show up and support!

Confiscating the passport of the elected representative of the opposition territory in a raid with a flimsy pretext to attempt to strip them of citizenship is something we have words for when it happens in other countries

it's specifically hard to get international distribution on zines because there's not enough profit to work with major retailers and distributors. I think sometimes Active UK carries our stuff there but I'm not sure? I bet we'd be happy to work with an Irish or UK crew that wanted to do a run.

like I'm reasonably certain that if someone handwrote notes and put them in my mailbox that said "we're going to stop the tranny menace" or whatever that would be a crime. I don't see why having them printed on glossy cardstock makes it okay.

🚨 All eyes on the border wall blockade at Camp O:ṣhad in Lochiel, Ariz. This morning, over 50 Border Patrol / BORTAC agents raided the resistance camp, entering private property without a warrant, attacking land defenders & deploying a cherry-picker to extract the tree sitter.

Border patrol agents have entered private property in Lochiel Az, without showing a warrant I’m told, to remove people who have been camping there. They’re also setting up an exclusion zone around the tree that’s being defended.

Depending on your distance from whatever happens, there IS a role for "hide in the basement with your family for three days and then continue your life with less cancer than otherwise." And certain meds do help that.

I can't speak to this particular advertiser, but I think there's actually more of a gradient of survival in nuclear disaster than most of what media represents, and certain preparedness can make a huge difference. the more generalized that preparedness is, the less traumatic the whole thing is.

Women couldn't be outlawed in 13th-century England because they were never put in law. Instead, women accused of crimes were ordered to be waived if they failed to appear at trial. The consequence of waivery was the same as outlawry's: execution (often immediately and without trial). 🧵1/4
A woman in blue at the top of a castle is striking a man in red on the head with her sword. He seems to fall from the ladder he was climbing as is it enters his skull. The woman has a look on her face that says "Don't mess with me."

The fastest I ever write is about 2000 words an hour (realistically, it's a little over 1000 words an hour). If I wrote 2k words an hour, 10 hour days, I suppose it's technically possible to write 60,000 words in three days, but I don't think I could without a gun to my head.

Michael Moorcock once wrote a book called something like How to Write a Novel in Three Days and it haunts me. The fastest I ever wrote a novel was 3 weeks, ghostwriting trashy hetero romance. And it destroyed my brain to do. I just had a tight deadline.

Reading, and writing, are holy. I love reading novels because they tell me something. They say: "this is what someone believed enough to dedicate months or years of their life to say." This is just as true for the trashiest pulp as it is for the highest literature.
