The final state of the #boardgame shows the fellowship fleeing an overrun Lorien where they didn't have enough time to heal before becoming fully corrupted. The ents did what they could.

Lorien overrun with nazgul and orcs, with the hobbits fleeing. Ents have marched on Lorien.

A review on Amazon that reads "Excellent book about the future of mankind and technology when it comes to planet colonization. I do admit to getting lost at times in the science of it all - the author clearly knows his stuff regarding robotics and quantum ... well, anything. Highly recommend to those who enjoy extrapolating on where science can take us."
