Last bit of engine cleaning. The results of soaking in Simple Green HD (aluminum-safe formula) for 24 hours, rinsing with a power washer, hitting the stubborn spots with oven cleaner for a couple of minutes, and rinsing again. #ChurchOfPetrol 🧼🫧

Engine cleanup and degreasing daaaaay 🧼 🫧 Heavy duty oven cleaner for the iron block, Simple Green aluminum friendly formula for the cylinder heads. Never used a power washer before. T'was quite fun! 🔫 💕 #ChurchOfPetrol

24 hours of soaking in rust dissolver later and this is what the driver's side looks like. Passenger side for comparison. The results are definitely worth the cost of entry. #ChurchOfPetrol

Leveled out the block with the crane and now the rust disolver is working. Leaking has pretty much stopped.

These surfaces were worse, but I cleaned them up with a nylon wheel, since that's less aggressive than my wire wheels. But the surface was still too crunchy with rust buildup to seal with the plate without a gasket. *sigh* I'll figure it out 🤦🏿

Why must EVERY lesson cost me money? 🤦🏿 *huff* okay. Printed water inlet plates. Bought rust disolver for the coolant passages between the cylinders. INSTANTLY starts leaking once it filled up to the plate. Needs a gasket. The solvent is $35 a gallon, can't start over. *headdesk* #ChurchOfPetrol

Almost finished with the teardown. What you're looking at there is the crankshaft, it's attached to the pistons. Crank rotates, pistons go up, sparky boom pushes them down again. One thing we can still be thankful for is info on how to do things like this remains absolutely free. #ChurchOfPetrol

Just doin' the teardown a little bit at a time. Organizing everything, making sure (almost 😑 ) nothing gets lost. The smaller the engine gets one turn of the wrench at a time, the more weildy the whole thing feels. #ChurchOfPetrol 🛠️
