We have a wood pigeon nesting in a large rose bush just outside our kitchen door. It's been diligently sitting for a couple of weeks, but now we have two slightly fluffy young visitors sheltering on our shed veranda. 😊

Good outing in the single scull this afternoon, notable for taking place in heady temperatures of at least 7°C, resulting in non-painful digits. Lovely. Not even spoilt by a visit from the p*ntu*re faeries and a 3 mile walk home.

Looked like brightening up first thing but the day resolved into a bone-chilling damp greyness. My usual response is cake. Double spiced rock cakes using my late mother's Kenwood Major (which is almost as old as me). It's the mixer's 60th birthday next year; will it make its own cake? 🤔

Last weekend's windy weather walloped the old shed roof. After tacking the remnants down on Monday and ordering stuff, I've spent the last two days measuring, cutting, laying on it damply and clouting many clouts. New end battens also needed. Starting to feel achy in all sorts of places...
