Marcin Ignac @marcinignac.bsky.social · 25/11/2025Nothing crazy. I have project codes "PEX YYNNN Project Name". My repo is called PEX-yynnn-project-name" eg "pex-24001-genuary" or "var-25004-nike-project" and same named folder in Dropbox/Screenshots/PEX-24001-genuary. Then my files are named by graph/experiment-name-version-timestamp. 220
Marcin Ignac @marcinignac.bsky.social · 21/10/2025AWS situation is now stabilising so it's good to see how the number of incidents spiked during last couple of days. As AWS was on fire i've looked into service status visualisation we did for Maintel last year. variable.io/maintel-digi... 0100

Marcin Ignac @marcinignac.bsky.social · 18/09/2025How will the flower bloom in 2100? We collaborated with artist Annelie Berner to create a generative web tool that visualizes how the Circaea Alpina flower might evolve in response to future climate conditions. variable.io/plant-futures/ 1317
Marcin Ignac @marcinignac.bsky.social · 04/09/2025When you work on something and stumble upon unrelated look and feel that makes your synapses fire in a cascade. Could be Data, could be AI, or just bunch of real-time glowing cuboids. Up to you. 1131
Marcin Ignac @marcinignac.bsky.social · 21/07/20253d flowers have 3d meshes. 3d meshes are 3d. Let's do more 3d things with them. 2131

Marcin Ignac @marcinignac.bsky.social · 11/07/2025So Grok 4 came out and I always wanted Figma integration in nodes.io so I vibe coded myself one. No more genAI videos in your mockups. Bring mockups to you art instead! 361

Marcin Ignac @marcinignac.bsky.social · 27/06/2025Can gemini-cli learn how to program in @nodes_io? Let's find out. I've scanned all nodes from past projects and prompted Gemini to create new node converting 3d mesh into Octree representation. It was able to get the right node+port syntax on first try, same for geometry outputs, onChange handling 220
Marcin Ignac @marcinignac.bsky.social · 26/06/2025Picked yet another veg from my garden to feed the algorithm. The flowers should be instanced only on the end of smallest branches but instead they got instanced at every vertex creating this centipede. 091

Marcin Ignac @marcinignac.bsky.social · 25/06/2025Spirit Plants depends on a Draft WebGL extension (WEBGL_multi_draw_instanced_base_vertex_base_instance) and disabling it creates strangle looking and repetitive aliens. 0250
Marcin Ignac @marcinignac.bsky.social · 20/06/2025It's a trend to overlay visuals with diagrams that don't make sense and are there just for aesthetic. Here is some debug view art where the opposite is true. Real data, broken visuals. 280
Marcin Ignac @marcinignac.bsky.social · 17/06/2025What if we could deconstruct plants into primitives? Testing idea of breaking apart Spirit Plants into components they are made of. Just like LEGO. But a bit torn before releasing too early: "Until it's done tell no one" vs "Share more. Become a vector (of ideas)." What camp are you on? 2140
Marcin Ignac @marcinignac.bsky.social · 11/06/2025Cloth simulation with metallic material is a beautiful mix. Counterintuitive (metal should be right) yet feels natural. 080

Marcin Ignac @marcinignac.bsky.social · 07/06/2025Instead of proompting GANs for inspiration I browse WIPs of my past projects using a homebrew software. Not enought days in a year to publish it all but so many forgotten ideas and paths not taken. Just wondering if my resistance for AI is just a comfort zone. Bg by www.instagram.com/ballonandon 0130

Marcin Ignac @marcinignac.bsky.social · 02/06/2025For me the artwork is not the output pixels but the system. The generator + curation. The process. Mission for this year is to find a way to communicate that value if there is any. 180
Marcin Ignac @marcinignac.bsky.social · 02/06/2025If you see art like this in the wild these days do you assume it's GenAI? This one is algoritgmcode based but even last year I would still say "nice C4D render". In 2025 not so sure. I would investigate for imperfections but assume it is generated, because you can. 160
Marcin Ignac @marcinignac.bsky.social · 23/05/2025Some projects don't see the light of the day. Forever forgotten in my screenshot folder... But what to do if you are still in love with them? 0230
Marcin Ignac @marcinignac.bsky.social · 22/05/2025Should we start Spirt Plant wallpaper collection? Even printed ones... Only half joking. Also what screens do you use for showcasing your portrait art? This is Dell U2723QE. Decent 27'' 4k with antiglare coating. Need something bigger... 291
Marcin Ignac @marcinignac.bsky.social · 21/05/2025Some #debugviewart shots of SpiritPlant while i'm working on full documentation. They expose how each plant is made out of modules. It allowed us to split procedural generation in phases, optimise for mobile and move animations to GPU (using WebGL, instancing and transform feedback for simulation). 060
Marcin Ignac @marcinignac.bsky.social · 21/05/2025Failed experiment of growing one flower from a branch of another. In the end we settled on more conservative "bouquet" composition. 090
Marcin Ignac @marcinignac.bsky.social · 16/05/2025You see flowers I see bugs The reality is that you spend 90% of time debugging, investigating, reading logs and building visualisations, figuring out what is happening, why isn't the computer listening? Where did the 5h go? The 5d? The 5w? 190

Marcin Ignac @marcinignac.bsky.social · 09/05/2025Project documentation overflow. 100% procedural. 100% hand crafted. No generative AI. No "other people work" remixed. Why saying that? Because I'm fighting an uphill battle against people labeling my work as GenAI because there was word "algorithm" mentioned. No proompting. Just sweat & code. 2535
Marcin Ignac @marcinignac.bsky.social · 06/05/2025One thing about your engine being able to push as much geometry as hardware creators intended is designs not before possible in any of our previous projects. High res of Spirit Plant compositions at about 100M triangles. 0243
