Colorful houses by the coast of Cobh, Ireland

A coastal old town, there are layers of 2-3 story houses. A few houses in the front that are next to each other are painted in different colors. A very tall cathedral tower in the back, its size has a dramatic contrast to the surrounding smaller houses. The sky is cloudy and gloomy.

Between the gloomy sky and cold ocean water, a thin shoreline that’s full of green grasses. A short light house in the front, and a few houses that are painted in different colors lined up in the back.

We were going to board the train from Dublin to Galway this morning at 9:25. Left the hotel at 8:50, train station was 10 mins drive away. Tried both Uber and FreeNow (Lyft), 10 mins later neither could get us a taxi. So we decided to take the bus, then found out the bus only took transit cards […]

@codepen The new version frequently hangs when creating a new pen or loading an existing pen. It appears to be a WebSocket issue. This has been happening ever since 2.0 was in beta but got more frequently in the last week or so.

A screenshot of Codepen 2.0 UI, all file editors say "Still loading...".

A screenshot of Edge DevTool console, with many WebSocketConnection errors.

Sad that the successor project to Vim — a project which loudly encouraged its users to donate to a charity to help AIDS victims in Uganda — has become an advocate for white supremacy and ethnic cleansing. Just including the DHH endorsement could have been a mistake, but this seems quite explicit […]

[TMI] My lord allows me to work from home 1 day a week. So every Thursday I get lots of bowel movements. That’s fine by itself, but we moved into a new office building since late January this year, I’m there 4 days a week, and I’ve only used the bathroom for No. 2 twice so far… wondering if […]

@tunetheweb Hi Barry, got a question about declarative HTML patching: based on my testing in Chrome 150, it seems `<template for>` only works with `<?target data>` but not `<?target data?>`, and `document.createProcessingInstruction()` creates `<?target data?>`. So are there differences between […]

When using `autofocus` on an element inside a `<dialog>`, the browser implementations are a bit messy. Seems Chromiums struggle with `<dialog>` in shadow root, and Firefox and Safari struggle with slotted content. Will file bugs if I can’t find any. cdpn.io/pen/debug/PwbRmXE #HTML

Took me a while to figure out what was going on here: tapping on the AirPods charging notification opens up the detail screen right on the lock screen/Notification Center, which is another bubble that says exactly the same thing but with a different corner radius. #Apple #design #iOS

Why do humans make our own lives so much harder than they need to be? What’s the point of having technological advancements if the life quality of ours and other species are getting worse? Also I wish farming was discovered after greed was no longer a human trait.

It’s amazing how much faster @quicheindustries feels comparing to Safari. Apple’s “content-first” minimalistic design made the interface and interaction feel bloated.

Came to Detroit for husband’s ceramic convention. Staying at the Marriott in Renaissance Center. The building gives lots TVA vibes.

A wide angled shot of the interior of a building’s atrium, the shot covers 4 floors ending at the ceiling with skylight. The floors are curved (part of a circle), on the right side of photo, which is the center of the building, sits 2 large concrete pillars span all the way across all floors.

Inside a building, 2 large concrete pillars span across multiple floors, on the bottom floor, between the pillars, a circular shaped platform hanging out of the floor, a 4-person table sits in the center of the platform with 4 chairs.
