but there's nothing inherent about the technology that makes art impossible. but that being said, a technology that makes more things possible also make emptiness reproducible on industrial scale. the tide lifts all ships, including the ones that suck.

this is why i initially turned away from ai made art, because it was not a conversation, it was barely involved in its own discussion. it mostly existed to prove a point about the creator's views about the tech, or their disdain for those who weren't believers. in short, it did not open up to others

while works that are messy or lazy that do the job really well. you can build a sense of what works for you by looking at art, reading about it, taking the time i guess. art is its own end, an attempt to reach out to another and make your inner self known. good art is a conversation, in other words.

i did study art in college, and as with all things, it's a matter of developing a sensibility. in my case, good art conveys something and responds to a present moment and is aware of the context of art that has come before. there are works i find aesthetically pleasing that i would call empty,

I think there will come a point when artists may start to experiment with AI use and lead to a veritable explosion in amazing works as people who actually know what they’re doing start using the tools. May or may not be a long way off.

What is apparent to me now is that plenty of people who have always wished to put new images out into the world do not and never had the slightest idea of what they wanted to put out there. But they just wanted the shadows to look correct when they did.

It’s not as if art cannot be made using AI, but by virtue of it being able to create whole finished works, AI is incredibly conducive to the creation of bad art.
