Hey, internet - should I report this issue to my crew? I saw the leading edge of the slats in direct contact with the thrust reverser sleeve on my jet... You can see where they're rubbing...

I don't suppose anyone in Frankfurt has photos or can take clearer close-up photos of these screens on the platform at the Hauptbahnhof?

Oh wow, a 'see something, say something' campaign in Singapore that's focused on reporting actually dangerous antisocial behavior not just suspicious packages or people taking pictures of things like they do in North America

I feel like a lot of people say 'tell me on the screen when we'll get to the next stop' on the bus, but...when the next stops are always about a minute away, this is just taking up space on the screen?...

Marc Ebuña @marcebuna.info · 31/05/2026
Late to this, but I was on this bus the day before trying to audit some issues with the LCD screens I was seeing in the dashboard. They'll still be used side-by-side with the LED screens... The access door the screen is mounted to was just unlocked and the display was facing up and not out 😅

The networked screens in DC Metro stations have the correct service pattern/short destination for this westbound Blue Line train to Pentagon City, but it seems the on-board PIS either didn't get a config for this trip pattern or the operator didn't set one
160
Marc Ebuña @marcebuna.info · 13/05/2026
And why can't we have chill operators like they do down here? 😩 Dude comes on with 'Welcome aboard Metro, folks. Hope you're having a good evening...' like he's doing a radio sweeper for a smooth jazz station... Meanwhile in Boston.... 😬🥲

Even on our straightest, highest speed track in America that's also recently been refurbished for 160mph running, US-adapted European trains are no match for our country's iconically horrific road quality

Seriously started tearing up when we came across car 57 😭 this is exactly the kind of memorial I would want for myself, friends, and colleagues England seems to have a very strong tradition of naming trains after people and things

Does anyone know more about the Docklands Light Railway (DLR) cars 57 named after Bernard George and 99 named after Sabine and Leonard Sebastian? Is there a full roster of the cars named after people and their stories? 🥺
A plaque on the side of Docklands Light Railway (DLR) car 57 that reads: This train has been named after our much loved colleague Bernard George, who served the railway and our community.

Not every day you see a freight train of tunnel segments moving through a passenger platform... These seem to be for the HS2 tunnels to Euston station, on their way from Hartlepool north of York www.hs2.org.uk/about-us/doc...

I initially thought this section with no windows was a checked luggage area but apparently it's a FULL KITCHEN like on Amtrak's long distance services west of Chicago — hot plates, broilers, ovens... Apparently LNER offers a full English breakfast in the mornings

Got a chance to ride with Azuma trainset Eleanor back to London, named after LNER's puppet mascot! www.lner.co.uk/news/lners-n... Struck up shop talk with the crew and they offered a tour of first class where they actually have RECLINING SEATS with SOME padding 🥹

🥺 Y'all, this tag line from the @railwaymuseum.bsky.social should be the mantra for transit museums in North America: Inspired by the past, excited by the future This coming Railway Futures exhibition is EXACTLY what I'm talking about www.railwaymuseum.org.uk/about-us/pre...

Y'all why are the rider info screens so good at York? The animations are so smooth 😩 Anyone have a sense of what's being communicated with the sign language? I'm curious about how this helpful for accessibility - is the information density better with sign language?

Way more generous pitch than premium economy I've experienced. JetBlue EvenMore seats is my point of reference Seems to be plenty for taller folks and enough that it feels like I want the tray to be bigger and closer

Toilets time — the toilet looks identical to what's on the Alstom Avelia (next gen Acela) and the same goes for the sink cluster. The locking mechanism is beautifully elegant

Marc Ebuña @marcebuna.info · 27/04/2026
The train is clearly optimized for revenue with as much seating as possible and a tiny catering cubicle in car G (this is a 9-car trainset) The attendant doesn't have enough room for all the catering trolleys so some actually sit in a storage closet where the toilets would be in that car

Marc Ebuña @marcebuna.info · 27/04/2026
Actually kinda feels like what the NER should be and is essentially getting with the Airos — a fixed trainset built for regional travel The seat pitch is good but the seats are built like a commuter train. They don't recline and the padding is worse than any commuter rail seat in North America

Time for some higher speed trains! Zipping up on LNER's Azuma to York for a visit to the National Railway Museum Apparently we'll be clocking about the same speed as an Amtrak Northeast Regional — just under 125mph

I think it's cool that all the Aventras seem to just come with these service status overview screens, kinda wish they had status icons or something else to more easily pick out the level of impact of a delay

Made it onto a Class 710 running on the Lioness line and it's got the same center-running LCD & security camera cluster as all the Bombardier Aventras (Elizabeth Line, Greater Anglia, etc) Also has these side LCD screens alternating with the ad inserts which only show agency PSAs and a clock!

And now the operator is desperately trying to explain the service pattern change... And there's an upset baby and other riders are confused and also upset AF — these speakers are really struggling to cut through And the LED scroll text is still 80% police PSA
