Spooky season is here, and I wrote about one of my favorite horror movies: Halloween 3! It might not feature Michael Myers, but it’s still one of the best in series, possibly only second to the 1978 original.

Halloween 3 Made the Right Choice by Getting Rid of Michael Myers
Halloween 3: Season of the Witch is one of the best movies in the franchise, despite the fact that Michael Myers doesn't really appear.

Damn, I didn’t know it went up yesterday! I knew it was coming this week 😂 Also, I appreciate what a good friend/fan you are.

No, but I want to! I’ve heard decent things. I actually interviewed the developers last year.

They have always had auto-pick options, you don’t even need AI! I know this, despite never having been in a Fantasy League. I was a Bills season ticket holder for years, and never once joined a league out of social obligation. My friends have done it and I simply didn’t. This is weirdo behavior.

It’s funny this hasn’t happened yet considering that we have a Mario villain explicitly based on football players.

I’m interested to see the various ways Raiders influences Splatoon 4. I do hope a lot of the mechanics get integrated into the next single player campaign, especially the “lend a hand” option. Co-op was a great way to stay somewhat in the multiplayer lane, without abandoning the single player focus.

I like Cardellini, and nothing in Friday the 13th is too sacred to me. The one benefit is that it feels very plausible that Mrs. Vorhees would have been a killer prior to the events of the movie, and Jason’s death served as an excuse more than a catalyst. Interested to see how they handle it.

I really want this to be good, but it’s not like there’s a precedent of there being a lot of good Friday the 13th content.

I loved Bumblebee, but the smaller cast of robots made it slightly less enjoyable for me compared to Rise. The opening sequence is incredible though, and there are so many good moments throughout.

It was a summer blockbuster, and it was surreal to see Transformers suddenly gain this very big pop culture moment. I saw it opening night with my friends, and then took my little sister the following afternoon.

Bumblebee might be objectively better, but I really like them both. I slightly prefer Rise because it’s more of an ensemble and it pulls from a lot of cool Transformers lore.

Marc Deschamps @marcdachamp.bsky.social · 12h
Revenge of the Fallen is so bad. The most recent two, Bumblebee and Rise of the Beasts, both serve as pseudo-prequels/reboots and were better than basically anything before.

Marc Deschamps @marcdachamp.bsky.social · 12h
Yeah, Transformers One was good. I think being solely an animated film tied to nothing in particular probably hurt it.

Marc Deschamps @marcdachamp.bsky.social · 12h
Parts haven’t aged well, but Bay’s first Transformers was a huge deal in 2007. It was incredible on the big screen, and it reinvigorated the brand. But his follow-ups were largely diminishing returns (Dark of the Moon was better than most), with the caveat that the art direction was always stellar.

Marc Deschamps @marcdachamp.bsky.social · 12h
What sucks is that Rise of the Beasts was probably the best live-action Transformers movie we’ve gotten, but it underperformed, so now we’re going back to Michael Bay in hopes that it’ll make America 2007 again, or whatever.

Splatoon 2 in the S1 launch window really helped grow both audiences. I once thought Nintendo should port Splatoon 2 to Xbox as part of the early partnership between the two, but having an exclusive “live service” series with dedicated first-player experiences has been great for Nintendo.
010
Marc Deschamps @marcdachamp.bsky.social · 13h
Yeah, definitely one of the most surprising decisions they’ve made over the last 10 years. But you’re right that it likely gave us Splatoon Raiders, and it helped establish Splatoon as different from the normal handling of single-generation releases. It’s bigger and more important.

I still want a dedicated Mario Hockey. Nintendo did a half-hearted version in Mario Sports Mix, but a toned down NHL Hitz style game with Mario characters would be a lot of fun.

People who got the Wii with Wii Sports as kids have families of their own now, so I can see this bundle in particular having a lot of nostalgic appeal. It won’t be the same success, but if your kid already wants a Switch 2 and the OoT remake, this bundle will make a lot of sense.

These are all over the Disney Parks right now!

Switch 2 offers Nintendo a great opportunity to dig deeper into its back catalog to find stuff that hasn’t been offered in a while, or to come up with new spin-offs that can co-exist with previous Switch 1 games. That’s why Splatoon Raiders was so smart. And Mario Baseball is a good call.

Marc Deschamps @marcdachamp.bsky.social · 13h
That’s a weird one, because it’s more of a pseudo-remake (like the first one). It’ll likely sell fine, especially since it’s being positioned as a magnet for casuals since it’s being offered in a system bundle. Could see it selling to a lot of families where one kid wants Zelda for Christmas.

Never heard of “Resident Evil 6.” I think you’re referring to Resident Evil Revelations.

Marc Deschamps @marcdachamp.bsky.social · 13h
I think this is why — in so many cases — it makes more sense to do Nintendo Switch 2 Editions of games that would normally get generational sequels. For example, they’re going to want to evaluate whether Mario Golf needs a straight sequel (though I know that one wasn’t as well received as Aces).
140
Marc Deschamps @marcdachamp.bsky.social · 13h
Mario Tennis Fever is an interesting case in that it’s basically the only first-party Switch 2 game that’s a traditional follow-up to a Switch 1 game. With so many S1 games still selling years after launch, Nintendo has to think hard about cannibalizing sales, and how to avoid it.

It’s really weird how lawyers haven’t gone hardcore after these companies. It’s not even about it just being the morally right thing to do; there is an absolute killing to be made on suing the living hell out of the A.I. industry. Why would you not want a piece of that?!?

Marc Deschamps @marcdachamp.bsky.social · 06/10/2026
I think you’ve gotta be pretty up on your stuff to know this, or of a certain age. People are used to Nintendo having technically weaker consoles, so it makes sense that people less informed would just assume that was the case back then, too.

There’s something real strange going on with this movie. I don’t have any particular investment, so I just hope everything is okay with Reeves and his family.

It felt like a big deal! I got it the same Christmas I got Pokémon Red. I liked that they added compatibility with G/S for Pocket Pikachu 2, because it felt more connected. I would love to see them do another device like the Pokewalker, but I don’t know how you make it special post-Pokémon Go.

Marc Deschamps @marcdachamp.bsky.social · 05/10/2026
The Pocket Pikachu is funny because it always felt like it was localized quickly to cash in on Tamagotchi still being popular in 1998 when Red/Blue were launched in North America. A lot of the early localized merch was more about tying Pokémon to already popular trends (like Beanie Babies).

This is your occasional reminder that generative "AI" in particular could have been developed on public domain materials and/or licensed and compensated works but the major players intentionally, methodically and systemically chose to steal labor from working creative folks instead

I see literally dozens of movies in theaters each year, often without watching a trailer. The trailer for Digger was so bad that it actively turned me off.

Could also be Stephen King’s It. I wouldn’t say that the movie’s existence gave me a total fear of clowns, but I wanted nothing to do with anything horror related with a clown in it for a long time.

Probably Child’s Play. I had a My Buddy doll as a kid, which looked so freaking much like Chucky. I can remember laying in front of the TV watching cartoons, and my dad sneaking up behind me with the doll. Scared the living daylights out of me, and I made my mom throw it out. Now I love that movie!

Really interested to see how the Kojima/Xbox relationship plays out over the next few years. I think they’re kind of using his goodwill to distract from a lot of the bad stuff happening at the company, but OD and Physint could be really big for Xbox if they play this right.
