few migrants moving on the Great Orme today. Dotterel was showing well while 2 Spotted Flycatcher, Yellow Wagtail, 100+ Mipit, 8 Grey Wagtail and a scattering of Willow Warblers. Several Chough were cool to watch. 3 playful Bottle-nose Dolohin offshore too #Birdingwales #UKBirding

Walked down Rhos Point, Conwy at low tide this afternoon to see read Sandwich Tern rings. A few read with @birdsandbikes.bsky.social however the two cracking Juv Black Terns that flew in were the highlight, staying all afternoon 👍 great to see @jonniprice.bsky.social + Alice #birdingwales #ukbirding

Right place, right time. News of this beautiful Red-necked Phalarope came over @birdguides.bsky.social just as I was driving past Kingsbury Water Park, Warwickshire. A few minutes later and bingo! Great inland find and thinks to the finder for putting news out promptly ☺️👍 #ukbirding

Juv. Dotttel on the Great Orme. Not as regular as it use to be on the headland so good to catch up with one this year. Had it all to myself for an hour after I nearly trod on it in the fog. It was very inquisitive and walked up to me a few times to have a look at my boots! #birdingwales #ukbirding

Great to help with the @btobirds.bsky.social Webs count at @rspbcymru.bsky.social Conwy RSPB yesterday. A team of us had Med Gull, 2!Barwit, 3 Whimbrel, 200+ Redshank, 130 Curlew, 8 Dunlin, Snipe, Blackwit and 630 Black headed Gulls over the high tide. Also a Juv Wheatear. #ukbirding #birdingwales
1st year Mediterranean Gull amongst the 650+ Black headed Gulls at Conwy RSPB. Starting to moult its juvenile feathers.

A morning’s amble around RSPB Middleton lakes produced 2 Wood Sandpipers, 3 Green Sandpipers, a Common Sandpiper, 8 Little ringed Plovers, Yellow Wagtail, 2 Water Rails, 2 Great White Egret, 18 Common Tern + 4 Snipe. Good to chat to @groughgruff.bsky.social #ukbirding @staffsbirdnews.bsky.social

Nice surprise while out walking with Michelle at @rspbcymru.bsky.social Conwy RSPB reserve. This Pectoral Sandpiper showed well in front of Carneddau hide. Only had bins with me so thanks to @alandaviesbirds.bsky.social and Ruth for bringing a telescope to confirm 👍 #ukbirding #birdingwales

An enjoyable afternoon at RSPB Middleton lakes @staffsbirdnews.bsky.social - Juv Marsh Harrier, 2 Great White Egret, Green Sandpiper, a Juv Common Gull dropped in and a showy Bittern. At least 9 Clouded Yellow around the reserve including this smart ‘helice’ form.

Stopped at Llyn Trawsfynydd on my way back from mid Wales. Well worth it! Green Sandpiper, Greenshank, 8 Common Sandpiper, Ringed Plover, 2 Redshank, 3 Snipe, imm. Yellow Wagtail + Osprey at the south end. Not bad for an inland lake. Water levels look superb for a good bird! #birdingwales #ukbirding

A cracking afternoon at Gronant watching the Little Terns. Pleased to report they’ve had a good year! Also 8 Avocet on site, including 4 youngsters! 3 Marsh Harriers, 150 Sandwich Tern and a cracking 4cy Yellow legged Gull amongst the thousands of large gulls ☺️👍 #ukbirding #BirdingWales

A good fall of Spotted Flycatcher on the Great Orme this morning with at least 12 birds on the headland. A Cuckoo was a good record on the patch while a Tree Pipit, Sedge Warbler and 2 Wheatears were also on the move. Several Brown Argus and Grayling on the wing too. #ukbirding #birdingwales

A super few hours at the excellent Ladywalk Nature Reserve, Warwickshire @westmidbirdclub.bsky.social - a Drake Garganey was a nice surprise, superb views of Bittern, 2 Hobby, Teal, a thriving Cormorant Colony, 3 Little ringed Plovers , 5 Shelduck and a singing Cuckoo. Great reserve! ☺️👍 #ukbirding

A hike up the three peaks of Drum, Foel Fras + Carnedd Gwenllian to look for Dotterel today. Failed to reach Foel Grach as the mist descended 😩 No Dotterel unfortunately but male Hen Harrier, several Red Grouse, Ring Ouzels, Cuckoo, Whinchat, 30+ Wheatear made it worthwhile #ukbirding #birdingwales

I know Redpolls are all lumped but this Great Orme Redpoll this morning was interesting. Very different from the many streaky little brown Lessers passing through at the moment. Even its calls were lower pitched. Yellow Wagtail, Tree Pipit, 30+ Wheatear and 100+ Swallow too #ukbirding #birdingwales

Back at Middleton Lakes RSPB #staffsbirds this afternoon. 4 Wood Sandpipers, Greenshank, 2 Common Sandpiper, 3 Black-tailed Godwit, 3 Yellow Wagtail, 10+ LRP, Bittern and Hobby. No sign of Wryneck for me. Earlier the Alvecote Hooded Merganser finally gave itself up to me #ukbirding #WestMidsBirdClub

As the Orme was shrouded in mist I had a walk around #ConwyRSPB reserve this morning. A Yellow Wagtail, a male Whinchat (video), 3 Wheatear, 3 Whimbrel, Lesser Whitethroat, a fly over Tree Pipit, 4 Sandwich Tern, 6 Dunlin and 2 Ringed Plover, all along the estuary track ☺️👍 #birdingwales #ukbirding

Back in the Midlands for the spring so Middleton Lakes RSPB becomes the temporary patch again. Good to be back there. Lots of year ticks; 3 Swift, Lesser Whitethroat, Garden Warbler and this cracking male Whinchat. Avocets + Little Ringed Plovers displaying and Bitterns booming too #ukbiring #WMBC

What a morning up the Great Orme! Vismig Green Woodpecker, Redpolls, Great Spotted Woodpecker, Wheatears, Whitethroat, Siskins, Hirundines + Pipits on the move. Looking at photos last night it seems only one bird was involved. See pic of ‘both’ birds y’day with same two dark feathers under the eye. Amazing how one bird can look so different in changing light conditions, backgrounds, photo angles. The gull is still present today #ukbirding #birdingwales

Two adult Bonaparte’s Gulls at Llanrhystyd, Ceredigion this morning. Amazingly I found one and the same field in 2004 and @arfonwilliams.bsky.social found one there last year! 17 Med Gulls, 5 Sand Martin + 3 Wheatears too. One bird still present when I left at 12pm. #ukbirding #birdingwales ☺️👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿
