Pretty frustrated this evening. The newest version that has Android Auto and a lot of new features/fixes has been waiting in review with Google for 4 days. Not sure what's causing it to take so long and we're so excited to get the newest version out to you all. Refreshing the page every few minutes.

Quick update to anyone wondering where things are at for Android. Google finally approved our open beta track with an old version. We've started the process twice now to get a newer version reviewed and found bugs before it was approved so we pulled the release before it could go out.

Small update: First, we're still waiting on Google to finish its review of our Android open beta test which has been holding us back since September 13th. Once it's approved we'll be able to update the app for anyone on iOS or Android to fix a number of known bugs and share new features.

Sorry to anyone who experienced some slowness or freezing while using maps this afternoon/evening. Turns out that building and running a national mapping service and adding on live transit data takes some beefier hardware than what we initially set up.

Hey again! Late night update: Today has been all about refinement. We started the day by announcing we've added a lot of new address data to our own database. Throughout today we've been working on cleaning that data against our other sources to remove duplicates.

Running out of midnight oil to burn! Got a bit overexcited and pushed out new build this evening without stress testing it fully. Then we pushed out a new build quickly thinking it fixed the issue but it didn't. Didn't want to leave anyone hanging so we're pushing out one last build tonight.

Build 30 (iOS) and Release 17 (Android) are out for testing. Make sure to update your app so you can get the newest features. TL;DR: - Maps, routing, search, map icons, etc... have been rebuild in house. TomTom is only used for traffic and as a fallback. - Two new much more realistic voices added

A lot of exciting updates coming out in the new build (hopefully out later today): - Completely new maps. We are now only using TomTom to supply traffic data! - New maps means we also have improved bike routing - New voices for navigation that sound like humans - Icons on the screen can be tapped

Another dev update: We've made a ton of progress today towards bringing almost the entirety of our back end mapping in-house. What this means is that our core version of Maple Maps will truly hold all its mapping data on servers run in Canada.

Development Update: There are some things that, as a tiny company, we just can't do without using the back end of a larger company. In our case, that is traffic and satellite imagery which require a lot of resources and a large user base to provide useful data.
