Great lesson today using translanguaging. Statements given to students. Worked in silence for 10 minutes as they translated to English, drew an image to rep statement & then put together as group cartoon. This lesson introduced our assessment for Türkiye earthquake #geographyteacher #EAL

I know that I am privileged to be able to afford a tutor for my daughter. N has struggled with Maths since joining our new school. She’s obsessed by Harry Potter and so I bought a jenga game & asked the maths tutor to write questions on the blocks. What a lucky girl my daughter is that maths is fun!

Had a fantastic day where students are examining if Valentine’s theory of ‘geography of fear’ exists in Barranco, Lima. We are using Survey123 to construct StoryMaps of the location. We are doing this because there is a gender violence crisis in Peru - 37% women reported domestic violence last yr

Do teachers include the names/years of the academic research when discussing content with students? I have been thinking more about this as a way to encourage students to think/write academically & understand it is not just me ‘saying’ something. It also gives students a glimpse into referencing.
