One reason it got here is bc Democrats are terrible about actually going out & voting in midterms. Republicans consistently had higher midterm voter turnout for decades. So we lost our majorities, the GOP got their judges, & those judges keep giving Trump king-like ”rights” while taking ours.

I‘m pretty liberal and keep getting more so all the time, but I was considering voting for McCain. I didn’t agree w him on a lot but he had integrity and I respected that. Then he chose Sarah Palin as his running mate and…no. I’d love to see a female president in my lifetime, but not that one.

Companies intentionally hire undocumented people to exploit them with lower costs for wages, healthcare, & benefits, then when they get injured or laid off, the companies don’t pay workers’ compensation or unemployment, either. Since the moratorium on the death penalty was lifted in 1976, CA has executed 13 men: 7 in the 90s & 6 in the 00s. The last execution was 20 years & 9 months ago. Despite having prisoners on death row, in effect, CA doesn’t have a death penalty. It’d be great to formalize that state of affairs.

I think this is a fact of trump’s tariff wars that people are not necessarily grasping: the trade isn’t coming back. Some of it may, but so many businesses just got new trading partners and won’t be coming back to unreliable partners. The US economy is not going to bounce back for a very long time.
