Scitimar-horned Dodons greatly outsize even the largest of their distant predatory uruguaysuchian relatives like the powerful, tree-climbing Pantherosuchus. These formidable hunters preferentially target young, infirm, or isolated Dodons. Not all predators need to be so choosy. (6/13)
A huge Pantherosuchus, a huge, predatory carnivorasuchian with a cat-like build and long, whipping tail. Its scaly hide is a uniform earthy brown, with subtle hints of lighter shades throughout. It has recurved claws on its hands and feet, allowing it to climb well despite its hefty bulk. The jaws are lined with cat-like dentition complete with carnassial shearing "molars" and piercing fangs. A size comparison with a man shows it to be reach shoulder height, comparable to the largest of cats.

A New Age of Reptiles: Dodons and Dragons Southeast Asia, as in our timeline, is a tremendous biodiversity hotspot. A nearly impenetrable tangle of endless jungle, sweltering swamps, and salty mangroves extend for more than a million square miles, hosting a riotous diversity of organisms. (1/13)
A Scimitar-horned Dodon, a hoofed, big-headed reptile with a scute-covered body and recurved horn nasal horn. Its broad head is superfically hippo-like in shape, ending in a beaky margin of large, tough scales. It has single-hoofed hands and three-toed feet. Its long, drooping tail nearly reaches the ground, ending in a dense cluster of scutes. A size comparison with a man's silhouette shows it to be just over two meters tall at the hip and around six meters in total length.

Art by @manusuchusA Giant Allosaurops monitor, a huge, long-necked varanid with a splotchy, lace monitor-like pattern of deep blue-grey and sandy tones. It has a loose, baggy throat and two prominent, rounded horns above the eye. Its forked tongue flicks from the mouth, giving it a draconic visage. A size comparison with a man's silhouette shows it to be nearly seven meters in total length.

A New Age of Reptiles: Torpedo Crocs Marine reptile diversity in the New Age of Reptiles eclipses any time in Earth's history, with thousands of species documented to date across dozens of lineages. The crocodylids, early colonisers of the Cenozoic seas, are among the most spectacular. (1/14)
A Red-Eye Torpedo, a marine crocodile with a sea-green hide and tail marked by white bands. Its forelimbs have become broad fins, but its hindlimbs have been reduced to small spurs. Its armoured skin forms ridges down its trunk, creating a hydrodynamic profile. A human silhouette beside it shows it to be around 2.5 meters long. A Sawsnout Torpedo, a gigantic coastal sea crocodile in a tightly curled posture. Its long, green-banded hide is covered in rows of scute-ridges. The deep, hypocercal tail is packed with powerful muscles. The head rapidly narrows to a thin, sawfish-like snout lined with laterally projecting teeth. A human silhouette beside shows it to be about seven meters long.A Weeping Cr'orca, a massive sea crocodile. It has a deep, wedge-shaped snout lined with conical interlocking teeth. Its diamond-shaped forelimbs have a single claw, and its hide is a subtly countershaded purplish hue marked with scars and little injuries. A streak of white and yellow run down from the eye, breaking up the uniformity of its colouration. A size comparison with a human silhouette shows it to be about 13 meters in length.

A New Age of Reptiles: African Rainforests As in our timeline, the equatorial region of Africa supports a near-endless tangle of tropical forest, steaming swamps, and great rivers splintering into innumerable tributaries. These hotbeds of evolution are home to a tremendous diversity of life. (1/13)
A size comparison between a Tree Sheep and an adult man's silhouette. It is an ungulate-like mammal with large clawed hands and hoofed feet. It has a compact, chunky body with a long tail and is comparable in size to a wallaby or medium-sized dog.A big-eyed, jaguar-sized notosuchian with a long torso, drooping tail, and lightly speckled green and whitish pattern. Its hands and feet are equipped with curved claws, and its head has a very cat-like character.A tiny brown, shrew-like mammal dangling from a stem, compared with a human hand. It is small enough to be held in a closed fist.A chunky, heavily-armoured notosuchian with hoofed hands and feet and a spade-like beaky snout. It is seen alongside a man's silhouette, showing it to be comparable in size to a large pig.

A New Age of Reptiles: Broadley's Bullcroc and Common Scrapeshell Isolated from other continents for much of the Cenozoic, South America has developed a degree of biotic endemism only outdone by Australia. In the scrubland and semidesert in the continent's south, giant reptiles abound. (1/13)
A hulking, huge-headed sebecid with blunt, crushing teeth and a brick red head. It strides on powerful limbs, its heavy head and fat-packed tail drooping. It is shown beside a human silhouette, showing it to be roughly two meters tall and five meters long. (Art by Manusuchus)A giant meiolaniid turtle with a cape formed from long, trailing carapaceal scutes. It has a crown of broad, chunky horns and a domed skull giving it a big-nosed look. It is shown alongside a human sihouette, showing it to be little over two meters in length. (Art by Manusuchus)

A New Age of Reptiles: The Banded Alliguana One of the most commonly sighted tetrapods in the waterways and flooded forests of the Gulf Coast, the Banded Alliguana is part of a great radiation of plant-eating alligatorines found throughout the Americas in the New Age of Reptiles. (1/10)
A small, long-limbed alligator-like crocodylian with a banded green and cream pattern. It has a long tail with tall rows of scutes on the tail forming a crest. A small row of raised scutes on the neck form another, smaller crest. It has large eyes and a blunt, bulldog-like skull. The silhouette of a hand can be seen beside it, showing it to be similar in size to a large iguana.

A New Age of Reptiles: The Raja Gharial In a world where whales and other marine mammals never developed, reptiles have repeatedly taken to the seas with great success. These oceanic invasions have produced a staggering diversity of marine reptiles rivaling that of the preceding Mesozoic. (1/13)
An enormous, short-limbed crocodylian with a swooping, streamlined body. It has a long and powerfully muscled tail topped by rows of large scales that create a vertically oriented tail fin. It has robust jaws with interlocking, conical teeth and tiny eyes. It has numerous scars across its skin, and several of its tail fins are torn or otherwise damaged. A size comparison with a man's silhouette shows it be to around 14 meters in total length.

Something for the #worldcrocodileday 🐊💚🐊 The orinoco crocodile is one of my favorite species but also extremelly endangered, its estimated that less than 100 individuals remain in the wild. It hurts my soul to its core seeing these species on the brink of extinction... #digitalart #crocodiles

Pretty cool paper. Basically, "Gharialis" curvirostris was named some 150 years ago by Richard Lydekker based on fossil material from the Bugti Hills of Pakistan and has very much been stuck in this state since then.
A reconstruction of the skull of Pseudogavialis curvirostris. It had rounded eyes and a long and narrow snout with numerous similarily sized teeth that would have interlocked when the jaws were closed.Fossil material of Pseudogavialis. The holotype skull consists of the very tip of the snout including the nostril and a section further back preserving the eyesockets. The image also includes a referred lower jaw that was originally described as a variant of the species.

The nearly complete skull of Dentaneosuchus was damaged during extraction, resulting in the scattering of material in the debris. Apparently, something very similar happened with Barinasuchus, an “almost complete” specimen that was destroyed during a road construction.

This paper has a lot of nice data that does seem to indicate an overlooked distinctiveness, but to do taxonomic revisions without any genetic data on living species should not be a thing in 2025. Even if a species is so rare that such data is difficult to obtain it would seem better to wait.
