I would like to add that, after the tiniest bit of research, booklets like this are handed out in other countries, accompanied by, in some countries, civic lessons, language courses etc etc to help people integrate. It’s a non story.

I was one of those people.We had a rota until we figured out how to have as many children in as we could while maintaining as many safety measures as possible,still had sick children,sick staff,long days,families dealing with sick children/parents/colleagues etc. We did our best, sadly forgotten now

Like everything in society, early intervention is the key. Followed by sustained support. More cost upfront, less cost in the long run. But that is too sensible a way to run a country it seems!

Thank you for this.I’m Irish living in the U.K. and trying to explain before Brexit what the CTA is and how it would be affected was met with vacuous statements like “just rejoin Britain then!” etc.It’s so frustrating to keep repeating the same facts and just being ignored or wilfully misunderstood.

As far as I can see, the man did nothing illegal until he committed this terrible act and like every other person that commits crimes he will be punished. The fact he is an immigrant is irrelevant. But it’s useful for the narrative, and the narrative is much more important than the truth.

This has been inevitable since Brexit. Trying to explain to people who wanted to leave the EU what that would mean for Northern Ireland and by extension the Republic was like banging your head against a brick wall. In fact, the response was usually that Ireland should “rejoin” Britain!

They are all very deliberately ignoring the express wishes of Henry Nowak's family; the judge's sentencing report & the obvious, albeit brief, consequences of a crime being reported exclusively by a lying associate of the perpetrator. It may feel futile but this has to be repeated again & again.

Almost every day my local newspaper reports a conviction for sexual assault on girls, women, children. Carried out the majority of the time by white, British men. There is outrage, but it is women who feel it, seething silently as they pick up the pieces and try to get their lives back.

I naively thought a good chunk of the population basically being put on "benefits" during COVID would have sharpened people's minds on the importance of a welfare safety net. Seemingly not.

Same here. Not just that but also the importance of cross border cooperation, coordination, communication. The realisation that people are mostly kind and supportive, for a while we felt so compassionate towards each other. Sadly, the lesson learned seems to be the complete opposite.

Any chance there may be a genuine surprise in the king’s speech? I can’t believe he can say Brexit is a disaster, Farage a chancer and then not do anything radical to change it?!

Sadly you are correct. Among people I know are those that love him and will vote for him, loathe him and will never vote him, and loathe him but still think he “deserves a chance”. This last group are also the most defensive and offensive when asked to explain their position.

Unfortunately, none of this matters - Reform are being treated as if they had 100% of the seats. No one pins them down on what they say, what they do, who they are, their councillors are refusing to speak to local papers, it’s no wonder their arrogance is astounding. They are untouchable, why??

The Tories are finished because of bad things they did,Labour are finished despite the good things they’re doing and Reform are flavour of the month because they have done nothing at all.Maybe the local elections will focus minds but I’m not sure there is anything anyone can do to stop Farage.
