if you are into #radicle, the sovereign and decentralized code forge, you're in for a treat: stats.radicle.at just got buffed with interactive activity timelines, repo and identity search, new charts, and new pages. All about the numbers YOU care about and want to share.

I released v0.6.0 of my super duper plug-n-play linter for all things JS/TS/frameworks and beyond. Works great with agents too. It will enforce loads of best practices. Just tell it to follow all the install steps from the readme, including recommended. npmx.dev/package-chan...

With everything happening I forgot to make a little announcement: I've been building Grove, a peer-2-peer code forge (think GitHub, the whole thing) running in a browser tab. Plus a bit of VS Code thrown in for good measure. I've posted the first of a series about it 👇 maninak.com/blog/git-is-...

Git escaped centralization. Everything we built on top of git walked right back into it.

This summarizes my feels today regarding the #Radicle disclosure. For no legitimate reason I've been having a sense of guilt and escapism since the vuln is public. I couldn't put my finger on it. Now I know it's because I feel for the devs. Member changes, short on hands, hard work. Then this.

The cat's out of the bag: what I discovered is that #Radicle has a major security vulnerability. That's a first of that magnitude and a learning experience for me. I hate everything about it, but shit happens. Better now than later. I wrote the whole story at 👇 maninak.com/blog/radicle...

Vulnerability disclosure: Radicle nodes send private repositories in cleartext
I discovered that Radicle nodes send private repositories over the network in cleartext. This is the story of how I found out, what exactly is happening, and what to do now.

I heard a rumor that every self-respecting, time-wasting engineer needs their own overengineered self-built blog. For this reason I've been grinding for weeks on mine. Plenty of fire posts have already been drafted over the last busy months. Strap in for what's coming. 👀

One of the saddest facts of developing software with love, craft, and attention to detail, is that realistically the best compliment you can expect when doing user testing is them going like "ok, I tried it, it works". That's it, no complaints at all. Ain't that rewarding AF?🥲

If you're anything more than a newbie #Radicle user, you'll absolutely benefit from radicle-backup. With it you can back up, restore and move a Radicle identity, node state, and repositories from one computer to another. And lucky you, v0.3.0 just got released. 🎊 radicle.network/nodes/rosa.r...

I just released radicle-seed-prune v0.7.0 that auto-removes stale repos and spam and gets "angrier" as free disk gets lower. If you've been thinking of running a #Radicle public seed node but hadn't due to maintenance or disk quota worries, fret no more. app.radicle.at/nodes/seed.r...

Just released v0.6.0 of radicle-seed-prune. If you previously were left hanging by the lack of feedback while the tool was out crunching data for minutes, you may feel relieved to meet the new progress indicator. It also embraced integration with the #Radicle CLI as a `rad prune` command.

This is probably one of the most bonkers shell scripts you'll ever come across, at 2424 lines. github.com/maninak/radi... It's radicle-seed-prune v0.5 and running this on a weekly cron is all someone running a public #Radicle seed node needs to reduce maintenance to almost zero.

Open source and grinding insane amounts for Radicle tools is great and all but a man's gotta feed the family too. So I'm pretty stoked be accepted to Toptal. Their review process was no walk in the park.

Many thank to @nandi.uk who took so much of his time to report multiple issues people would face when trying to donate to me. Nandi then proceeded to be the very first donating both BTC and EUR on a recurring schedule. 🙏 I updated stats.radicle.at#support and work on dedicated donor attribution.

This is Grove folks. A P2P code forge in a browser. All feedback is very welcome and much needed. The highly dynamic UI won't make it through a screenshot. You'll have to try your hands on the closed alpha to experience it yourself. 👉 radicle.tools for early-access

Up until a year ago I was consistently getting told that working on the #RadicleVsCode was a waste of time and nobody cares. Today, the OpenVSX downloads alone crossed the 2,000 mark. In less than two months, 1,000 more of you proved you care. Thank you. The biggest release yet arrives soon.

In just two days since the notorious Bitchat takedown from GitHub, the repo has already been mirrored to the peer-to-peer #Radicle network and risen among the top seeded repositories. In fact it's the second most seeded community repo. That's exactly what @radicle was made for.

Ah yes, genuinely beautiful. A Grove's rad clone: the network lane trickling in at the top, pack-io grinding through the middle, the eight pack-resolver workers firing their staggered shard bursts, the SharedWorker's verifying, telemetry bars. 👨‍🍳👌

At some point I need to write a blog post titled "Performance As the Default". Every web experience needs it to feel engaging, smooth and foster a relaxing and reassuring feeling when using a web app. Performance cannot be an afterthought. It must be a requirement hitching along every new feature.

The git history command deserves more attention
Working with lots of changes in parallel on git can be painful. You end up juggling branches and commits, and running scary rebase -i commands that can leave your tree in a half-broken state if you so...

Honestly, I came close to giving up. 66h of gruel grind to get repo cloning to work failing -> failing less -> tiny repo clones -> disaster after disaster then suddenly one hour ago -> 10m47s for heartwood then 10 minutes later -> 4m27s 🚀 I'm not done.

Having a complex web app fully work offline is hard. Setting up Content Security Policy a complex web app is hard. Fulfilling both is harder than the sum of its parts and for Grove I must have both.
