Was trying out an auto-suggest prompt "I survived the" & was rewarded with this: "I survived the deadly battle on the Isle of Pirates" (RIP Izzy) It's from an unfinished fic a few years ago- think it's a sign to stop saying I can't write it & get back to it. Anyways, here's a bit from prologue:

He had been one of the lucky ones who had survived the deadly battle on the Isle of Pirates, during the Prince's partially successful attack. It had ultimately cost the Navy a great deal, and they were still no closer to re-capturing the dread pirate Blackbeard who had evaded them yet again. He sighed at the futility of it all. He'd met the man face to face, back when both pirates had surrendered and signed the King’s decree, and he was just another guy. Not at all like the stories depicted, in fact, he seemed kind and caring, which was certainly a rare thing in a captain. But then again, he was with Stede Bonnet, who seemed to have that effect on people. Not for the first time he found himself silently questioning whether he was fighting for the right side.

The Honeysuckle Pirate, I presume? (I was looking at my pirate garden (read: wild) thru the window this morning & spotted a honeysuckle I didn't know was there! Wish I'd seen it a few weeks back when the Bindweed was still flowering!). Reckon the bambo they're on is either the Revenge or Izzy.

Honeysuckle growing up a bamboo shoot with a Bindweed, the yellow and white Honeysuckle flowers are in the foreground.

Close up of their stems entwined together, the honeysuckle twirling clockwise and the Bindweed anti-clockwise.

Has anyone done a gentlebeard edit to this song? Seems made for them! 🏴‍☠️🖤 #OFMD

Genesis "Your Own Special Way" lyrics:

Go far enough and you will reach
A place where the sea runs underneath
We'll see our shadow, high in the sky
Dying away in the night

I've sailed the world for seven years
And left all I love behind in tears, oh-oh
Won't you come here, wherever you are
I've been all alone long enough

You, you have your own special way
Of holding my hand keep it way 'bove the water
Don't ever let go, no, no, no

You, you have your own special way
Of turning the world so it's facing
The way that I'm going, don't ever
Don't ever stop

Whose seen the wind not you or I
But when the ship moves, she's passing by
Between you and me, I really don't think
She knows where she's going at all

You, you have your own special way
Of carrying me twice round the world
Never closer to home than the day
The day I started

You, you have your own special way
Hold onto my hand keep it way 'bove the water
Don't ever let go no, no, no

What mean the dreams night after night
The man in the moon's a blinding light
Won't you come out, whoever you are
You've followed me quiet long enough

You, you have your own special way
Of holding my hand, don't ever let go
You, you have your own special way
Of turning the world so it's facing
The way that I'm going, don't ever
Don't ever leave me

Of course, I did one for the badger too, naturally 🦡

A badger plushie wearing a crocheted jumper (same wool as mine). There are little holes for it's legs and tail. (he also has a little plaited collar that my daughter made).

"Available for 24 days" This state of affairs is making me increasingly forlorn by the day 😭 Say you won't leave? #OFMD

Screenshot of bbc iplayer, showing OFMD season 1 Episode 1. Under the description it's currently saying it's only available for the next 24 days.

Was having trouble remembering how to spell "plateau" until I noticed that it also reads "plate au" so here's a silly sketch of that. I'm sorry. #ofmd

A rough pencil sketch on lined paper. Stede is a fancy plate with stars and vine border and a floppy fringe, Ed is a snail fork with a hint of curly hair and beard. Both have hearty eyes, with the caption "You came back" and "Never left".

Hyperfocused & accidently crocheted 2 thirds of a jumper sleeve today. First sleeve took me 5 days (still learning!). The chances of me completing a jumper are slim but not zero- c'mon hyperfocus, hold out for one more week, please? 🙃😄

15.5 lines of double crocheted sleave, the yarn is chunky and a mixed gradient of turquoise, navy, hints of yellow, green purple and pink, it's currently about two crochet hooks long.

I posted this on the bird app when it seemed likely that something big was about to happen and we were peak clowning. Still makes me laugh (damn the man- save The Empire!) 🏴‍☠️🦄

In my head I like to think d j had a meeting with z that went down similar to that scene in Empire Records where Mitch says to Joe "look, I hate this place and you love it. Let me sell it to you... cheap". And Joe replies "thanks, you won't regret it Mitch... (walks away cursing him).

I know it sounds weird but I'm crying with joy right now bc there's been so much medical, government & journalist gaslighting and abuse for decades- telling us we could get better if we tried harder, and now we have proof that this illness is real- IT'S REAL, IT'S FUCKING REAL!!!

Scene from Star Trek TNG episode "Command, Part II". Picard is shouting in exhausted defiance "there are four lights" (while being tortured into saying there are five lights, when there's clearly only four).

I was one of the thousands who partipated in the DecodeME genetic study- and we finally have the initial results back- people with M.E. have SIGNIFICANT GENETIC DIFFERENCES compared to those who don't.

Quote from the Decode M.E. article:

"So, Decode M.E. showed that immunological and neurological processes are likely to play a part in ME/CFS. They also found a link to chronic pain, but not to anxiety or depression."

My first ever fic- eek! I was getting thoroughly overwhelmed with a longer one I was writing so decided to try a oneshot instead. Ed and Stede are plants. It's very silly, and I love it! archiveofourown.org/works/67685601 #OFMD #OFMDFic

Title:
The Honeysuckle and the Bindweed
by a o 3 user SeriousMoonlightDance

Summary:
This is a very silly gentlebeard meet cute where Ed and Stede are plants. It's inspired by the song “Misalliance” by Flanders and Swan, as I've always loved the whimsy of it, but it's got a happier ending than the tragic lovers in the song, I promise!
Here's the original song, their dialogue before and afterwards are recommended if you like silly humour!

Link to song given on the page.

I've used both the words “entwined” and “intertwined” interchangeably to honour both of the source texts.

Full list of warnings and tags can be found via the link in my post, which include:

General audience, Edward Teach/Stede Bonnet, romantic fluff, meet-cute, bullying, racism, 1340 words.

Some random ofmd s1 rewatch notes- I love how I've watched this show so many times I can quote most of it, and yet I'm still finding stuff I didn't notice before! (S2 notes to follow tomorrow). 🖤🏴‍☠️🪴🍊

I love the way Lucius just lets his crew scream when they're ripping Jim's nose off.

I say "Hola" like Buttons so often.

I own aff a pyramid too! *literally runs off to get my receipt to wave it at the telly*

Con saying "omg, omg... OMG" makes me giggle every time- perfection!

Knowing that the whittled finger scene is one of DJ's favorites of them, makes it even more lovely and special!

Lucius saying "Slash writer", man I love this show.

I remember when I first saw the blanket fort scene I was so grateful to Taika for playing it with such vulnerability- we need more of this please, it's so good.

Jeffrey!

It's only taken me nearly 3 years to notice and appreciate that Jim hid on a boat called the Revenge. Facepalm emoji

When your life have been pretty fucking dramatic for 5 years and your neuro-spicy brain doesn't know how to human anymore, much less mask 💀

The Swede begging Jim to get oranges, the subtitles have been changed from "the teeth don't go back in" to "the mask doesn't go back on".

I took inspo from the album cover for "The Seeds of Love" Tears for Fears, plus a few of the little cryptids from the title song's video. I'm fairly new at doing digital art and wouldn't have made it this far without near constant(!) questions to my kids on how to do things! 😂

So excited to have been a part of this project, I'm in absolute awe of everyone's entries! Thank you so much to Tsuya and Ram for organising! 💜 #YouWearFineFramesWell #OurFlagMeansDeath #OFMD

Digital art of Ed and Stede kissing on the boat, season 2. They're surrounded by various things- lanterns, a unicorn sulpture, a moth, Buttons the seagull, cartoon Kracken and Merman in the sea. I took inspo from the album cover for "The Seeds of Love" by Tears for Fears, so also included are sunflowers, sticks holding a copper fish, a sun and a heart, a setting sun with a face, and various sea crytids from the music video. Two sunflowers are attatched to cannons and contain lyrics from the song, "I love a sunflower" and "believe in love power".

Ed and Stede everyone. Signed, A Fearsome Pirate.

The most sketchiest initial sketch that was ever sketched, basically just bendy rectangles with circles on top, with "Ed" leaning in for the moonlight kiss.

I'd love to know why they used purple irises when Bashir meets Garak in DS9. I'd like to think it's bc Iris is the greek goddess of rainbows, with purple symbolising queerness, but it was prolly all that was available on busy day. Even so, I'd say it was clear evidence of divine intervention.

Bashir is sitting at a table looking up and open mouthed at Garak, who is mostly out of shot. A vase of purple irises are in front and left of him.

“If you see this, please repost with a favorite photo of the sky that you’ve taken recently” A pic I took on the cornish coast recently 🌊

Sky photo at the start of a sunset, the sky is mostly a blue gradient which gets lighter towards the horizon, the sun is peaking slightly above a silhouetted hill. There are a few whispy clouds that look like they're travelling fast, leaving a trail behind them.

I'm sitting next to a lifesize model of theme park style Blackbeard, who is gazing at something away from the camera (probably Stede). I'm smiling at the camera, dressed in a black puffa jacket, brown curly hair escaping the collar. Much of my face is covered with a digital pirates hat, eyepatch, eye flower, hand drawn black beard and mustache. Added a clockwatch to the jacket for extra bling.
