I have reference books for anatomy and musculature I consult. I also use a pose dummy as well as photos of whatever animal or feature in drawing to breakdown what details need to translate. I also collect art books from shows and movies! I'm also a sucker for "How to think when you draw" books.

At big cons, there’s just never enough time or space for more than a prefunctory hello before moving on to the next thing or being squashed out! I have had my best times at smaller events, the kind with less than 400 people inside the place.

It’s not a hot take. At all. Because I have talked to many folks who have confirmed it’s just “how things used to be”, but: Going out to a diner with a small group and talking is just as valid a way to interact in person with folks in the fandom as going to a convention, if not more so.
