Elmo giving the closing soliloquy from ST:DS9: "In The Pale Moonlight":
"Elmo lie. Elmo cheat. Elmo bribe men to cover up crimes of other men. Elmo is accessory to murder. But most damning thing of all: Elmo think Elmo can live with it. And if Elmo had to do it all over again, Elmo would."

1972 is maybe not *so* old, but it's a good 15 years older than me, so it's old to me. I do still occasionally use it, mostly for some useful bits at the back (rhymes, given names, terms of address).

(Curator description from when this artwork was displayed at Buffalo AKG Gallery)

Rhea Myers
British, active in Canada, born 1973

Facecoin, 2014
HTML5 and JavaScript real-time digital animation (silent), shown in a browser
Running time: infinite

Courtesy the artist

Rhea Myers was one of the first artists to consider using blockchains as an artistic medium. Blockchains are online records of digital data secured by cryptography that have been promoted as a way of preserving anonymity and security in online transactions. In her work Facecoin, a browser rapidly runs unique cryptographic and represents the results as greyscale pixel maps. A JavaScript plugin for facial detection scans each map. When it "sees" a face, the map is frozen and a red square is drawn around where it believes the face to be. By looking for faces in cryptographic data, Facecoin highlights the emergence of "machine vision", in which computers use cameras to sense and analyze visual appearances, including the faces of humans. The work asks the viewer to consider the consequences of being seen—or not seen—by computers today.

You can experience the artwork on your devices for free via the artist's website: rhea.art/facecoin/

I remember somebody offering a good word for this, but it is lost now.
Tweets from @Malimar:

Is there a good word for a bit at the end of a story that twists everything and throws everything that came previously into a drastically new light? I've been saying "punchline", because that's how jokes work, but people have been misinterpreting it as having to do with humor.

In an English class, if I taught kishotenketsu, I could subsequently call this moment a story's "ten".

Facebook post from D.J. Grothe:

"The scientific illiteracy of the Trump administration, go figure. Under Trump's anti-trans executive order, every single person in America is now *legally classified as female.*

Why? Because all embryos begin by developing female sex organs, with male sex organs only replacing them at around 6 weeks of gestation, not 'at conception.'"

Screenshot of something from the White House:

"(d) 'Female' means a person belonging, at conception, to the sex that produces the large reproductive cell.

(e) 'Male' means a person belonging, at conception, to the sex that produces the small reproductive cell."
