Right! Zimkova’s isolation made it a target. Before the SEA arrived, the town relied on fishing, which depended on aquatic people Servyan gov deemed illegal. When the SEA built a base there, many were captured or driven into hiding, killing the industry and leaving Zimkova dependent on its occupiers

I’m always amused/proud when my beta readers say “I have to remind myself this character is only 17, because that was a really dumb move.” It helps when adults are part of the main cast instead of side characters imo.

As I kept writing Drowning, I realized that one of the main themes of the story is perception, who controls it, and the attempts people make to take control of their own image. Comics are a visual storytelling format, I try to get as much as I can out of that. #Webcomic #comic #digitalart
