Sharing and dividing people by opinions is a tale as old as time. But, sometimes, I think, they can bring people together by exposing hidden commonalities. And, sometimes, they’re not mean to be taken seriously at all. But, yes, sometimes I’m left to wonder: “What’s your point here? 🤷🏻‍♂️”

PS, to anyone thinking I’m giving good advice: Sometimes speaking your mind in certain ways can catch you a fist. (Honestly, as I’ve learned, that can happen regardless.) Depending on your offensive power and audience, you might just as well be served with a “That’s cool. 👍” and a saunter away.

I’ll still try to be a kind, gentle boy, like I’ve always tried to be—with wavering success. It’s the right thing to do. It greases *a lot* of skids. It keeps things friendly and low-key, in a world gone out of its got-damned mind. But, I don’t need to abide foolishness either. Lesson learned.

It wasn’t because I took it hard. I’m sure he thought he was being funny. Rather, my response came from a place of being tired of artificial division. Like, I don’t play the rivalry game. I’ve been watching the Caps since I was a kid, but I’m not up their ass about stats, trades, or even games…

I think, to the end of my days, I will always ask the question “why?” Why did this happen? Why did that happen? Why was I in that place at the wrong time? Why did my mom experience her bad childhood? Why did I experience mine? Why did I meet these people and not those people?

…I’m happy to hand genAI the tasks I don’t love doing as much, like writing out unit tests. I still have to go back in and change many of them, but at least it helps close that gap. (It is not lost on me that one of my mutuals might chastise me for not doing TDD, but here we are… 😆)

…That is to say, there’s still good code in that vast sea of slop, and the junior developer can still regurgitate it with the names changed to suit the situation. But, the code fits together without discernment, thought to the larger goal, and, sometimes, without regard to good practices…

…I’ve heard a ton about how people find writing code so complicated and it boggles my mind. Like, one thing that has stuck with me as a “WTF?!” is someone telling me that they used an agent to rename a method across their codebase because it was too hard to chase down. My dude… get a good IDE. 😆

Funny thing is, no matter which basses I see, I still only have eyes for Ibanez. I wouldn’t spit on the person who gave me a boutique bass, sure. But, for my own money, they make pretty good basses I can afford. They’re light, fit my small hands, and don’t sound half bad.

Weekend breakfast. Between the husky and me we’re about 1:2 or 1:3 on who makes the breakfasts. I’m trying to branch out from our usuals to try and add variety.

Start to finish, it took about 3 hours, between prep, fridge rest/compression, and bake. But, voilà, a breakfast strata. Bacon, onion, and jack cheese blend, in substitute for the original recipe’s spinach, shallot, and gruyère.
