I have an unbelievable affection for cult movies the likes of “Krull”, be they sci-fi, fantasy, or—in this case—a little bit of both. It’s a movie with a funky concept, great art direction, fascinating character design, and a decent cast and crew. But, sadly, it missed critical success.

Picked up a new iPhone 18 Pro last night and I’ve been spending the time since—outside of sleeping, naturally —doing that age-old process of getting logged back in to everything. Apple has done *really* well on the UX of transferring phones. It took probably 15-20 minutes to get the basics done…

I’m lightly rocked by the news that MAGFest sold out. I say “lightly” because it’s unlikely we were going to make it anyway, what with us trying to take a ski trip in January moving forward—and saving money and leave for that. But, I still could have commuted in if we were in town. Now? 🤷🏻‍♂️😅 Wow…

I will—barring a miracle—miss the Kennedy Center. I saw some great shows there, and appreciate that it was a seat of culture in the DC area. My boy worked there and was a part of something great—and made good money to boot. We need more places like pre-Trump KC, not fewer.

Cool. First time I’ve seen a station overrun. Train made it most of the way into the tunnel, leaving only one car fully on the platform. Was definitely curious to see how they’d resolve it, but wasn’t surprised that “how they’d resolve it” was “drive on”.

Watching one of my guilty-pleasure movies: “Graveyard Shift”. It’s one of those movies that was the staple of the horror movie block on Saturdays growing up. But, make no mistake, it’s not an amazing movie. It’s just my kind of schlock. Plus, it’s got a bit part by Brad Dourif. 👍

I’m trying to figure out Lidl. Aldi I get. Mostly non-name brands—at least US ones. Exceedingly cheap prices. Amazing value if you’re not too picky. My local Lidl is 50% name brands, with commensurate pricing. Value is slight to non-existent over my usual grocer. What market are they after?

I am ever grateful that my mom is still around and I can spend time with her. But, I can’t help but feel a sense of dread each time she has dementia-like lapses in memory and thinking while I’m with her. She even knows it’s happening, too, which is even more cruel. I just hope it moves slowly…
