Bench seat has its cushion and is finally finished. For my next project I have an irresistible urge to do some fine woodworking and make a walnut and maple jewellery box (mainly to test out my skills on something smaller). Let see how that goes!

I’m sorry, but filing that away would be blue sky thinking ;)

My god, it’s me (when I have a moment that I don’t hate people ;)).

Finally got all the bits to finish the bay window bench seating. Looks pretty good! Lots of storage as an additional bonus. Will order a cushion for the top soon (Etsy is a godsend for things like that - I can do woodwork, but sewing is way beyond me!)

Agreed. It’s an alert for incoming missiles or a deadly immediate threat, not a warning about a potential risk.

Jeezus that alert just gave me a heart attack.

Parents and family members are toxic and then wonder why you don’t keep in touch much. Strange isn’t it?

Whatcha painting with? Acrylics or lacquers?

Loved the latest episode of Strange New Worlds. Definitely Event Horizon meets Star Trek. Surprisingly gory too.

Even if they win everyone wouldn’t care or just start using ‘fur son’ or something else instead.

Part of me wonders how old the characters would be if they aged chronologically with the current date. Wish more comic creators would do follow-ups to show them throughout their lives.

Ahh B&Q…. Where the standard response to ‘do you’, ‘can you’, or ‘will you’ is an emphatic ‘no’ and a scowl. Oh, and where smiling is evidently immediately lethal, or at least it seems that way for the staff!

It’ll start on the bigger value but once they think the actual AI can do work it will quickly slide to the smaller one, no doubt! (Never mind if the AI is accurate or not)

Reminds me of the time I was on an Alaska cruise - me and Alex made friends with a much older American couple from Seattle. We spent lots of the cruise talking shit about trump and judging people in MAGA hats :)

Why is it shocking though? Their country is full of people who speak both English and Spanish!

Hilarious factoid - on my last cruise I found myself sharing a table with Anne Widdecombe’s private secretary. I winced, but he was a pleasant enough chap. Alex and myself went to great lengths NOT to discuss politics. lol.

And people wondered why I quite liked wearing a mask in Covid. No need to smile constantly to reassure other people. I could let my face assume its natural frown.

Actually I’d count shamans as the worlds first furry and fur suited musicians. He is a few thousand years too late.

I’m inclined to do just that. Maybe it’s a reason I’m not that popular. Lol.

Oh that’s not a problem in pharmacy. You rarely get to sit down for long anyway!

FINALLY finished the sideboard in the dining room. It was an absolute monster of a project and there’s still a few adjustments (as well as finishing touches to the rest of the room), but it’s come out looking pretty good! Lots of storage too! :)

Please note that I said ‘ambient medicines’. Fridge medicines are totally different and should be kept stored in 2-8c at all times.
010
Makari @makari.moggy.org · 24/06/2026
The general effect of short heatwaves on ambient medication is generally thought to be quite small and really becomes an issue for extended deviations or large temperature increases. Still, storage in cool conditions does help. For info on specific medicines I’m happy to offer advice.

I once had Amazon send me an SD card in an A2 6” tall box. I’d like to think someone did it for the lols, but I dunno…

I’m expecting that my job will quickly involve having to refuse to medication to vulnerable patients because they can’t pay for insurance. Then have to put up with a lot of them insisting that they voted for reform so how could this happen to them.

Making a big built in sideboard to go along one side of the dining room. Got one cabinet carcass done and just working on the drawers for the other. May start in the doors and drawer fronts on Monday.

I’ve been using my table saw a lot recently. Today I experienced a wood kickback that hit me right in the bollocks. Don’t worry, I’m fine (just injury to my pride). Nice way to learn the value of safety though!

Ahhh that’s how I managed to get decent temperature monitoring for the hospital. I kept destroying tons of stock every heatwave and eventually they ponied up. Funny how they don’t care about the staff, but mention stock losses and they jump!

I prefer to encompass it in lawful evil D&D tropes. Yes, I have a strong sense of justice and I always keep my word. But my values may drastically differ from yours and those of your society. :)

Ahhh, it’s that time of year where I look like an absolute madman taking a jumper into work. Our pharmacy is maintained at 18c, which is fine whilst you are running about, but gets chilly if doing desk work. Of course, if I walk out to the loo all wrapped up I get some odd looks!

It’s simple really - you can endure rocky seas at work if you have a stable rock called home. But modern kids can’t afford (and will never afford) a house and a stable base for their lives. No wonder they are bloody stressed.

lol, same. I like to think mine have thrown off the shackles of their human oppressors and are being free being nuisances.

Probably because they like to die at the drop of a hat if you do the slightest thing that they don’t like (or maybe it’s me - I never had much luck with fruit trees, except bonsai!).

The main confusion I have over my improvement in making models is whether I’m truly becoming more skilled or just spending so much longer on everything. lol.

www.bmj.com/content/393/... - Comes as no surprise that Palantir found their new system to be very effective by comparing it to data obtained during the worst phase of the pandemic... and even had a conflict of interest with a board member too!

Eg. They wanted to charge us hundreds for fixing sensors to walls. So I fixed them to the drug cupboards instead, which I own (as pharmacy). They really moaned about that bit but fuck ‘em.

I’ve been fighting PFI for years. Especially their maintenance contracts where they expect us to pay £2k for shelves, and hundreds for screws to go into walls. I just find freestanding units now or sticky pads for light things on walls. They can bloody sue me if they don’t like it.

I let out my whimsical side with this one and built a diorama with a shadow fox raiding the bins (as foxes do!). I know the scale is a bit wonky (HMM is 1/72, and the wall is built 1/36), but it still does the job. #zoids

After nearly 3 months of off-and-on building I finally finished my custom-colour variant of the Axis Aerial Dominator. I picked colours to give it an Eva Unit 01 vibe. Looks pretty awesome on my shelves. It's one chunky boi though - can't believe how much it weighs!

I recently just finished mine. A very satisfying build and quite complex compared to the other HMM models. Might be my next airbrushing project as it will go well with quite a corroded/grungy aesthetic.

It’s an amazing kit, but definitely an expert build. Soooo many bits (something like 1400 parts). It does look great though.
