MajorMagna @majormagna.bsky.social · 01/10/2026Sure Trek has had its darker side, but those films, series, and episodes worked BECAUSE they were outliers. Star Trek isn't about being "dark & gritty", it's about being Human. 000
MajorMagna @majormagna.bsky.social · 27/09/2026London & South Western Railway No. 563 returned to service in 2023, after a 75-year long rest. Seen here on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway earlier today. 001

MajorMagna @majormagna.bsky.social · 22/09/2026So let's say Detria VI is a Brown Dwarf of ~75 MJ. Detria II COULD be ~13 MJ, but even then, a Gas Giant of HALF that mass could still push the combined mass into the ranges of a "true star". 000
MajorMagna @majormagna.bsky.social · 22/09/2026SO, can we reconcile this? Perhaps, IF the larger "planet" is actually a high-mass Brown Dwarf, the most massive (MASS, not size) Gas Giants and Brown Dwarfs would actually have comparable diameters. One planet is noticably smaller, so is unlikely to be a 13 MJ example. Though composition matters. 100
MajorMagna @majormagna.bsky.social · 22/09/2026I was recently reminded of the "not-so-great science" seen in Star Trek TNG's "Ship in a Bottle" where two "planets" collide to form a star. Even two of the most massive gas giants (approx 13 times Jupiters mass) wouldn't reach the 80-ish Jupiter-masses required to start Hydrogen-fusion. 100
MajorMagna @majormagna.bsky.social · 18/09/2026Great Northern AND Southern Railway? The fictional company in The Railway Children really had big ambitions, but all their locos and services were pretty small in the 1970 film... Almost an inadvertent homage to companies like the LD&EC and E&WYUR. 000
MajorMagna @majormagna.bsky.social · 17/09/2026Starting to think a vocal minority have secretly been Phineas Gage-d... 000
MajorMagna @majormagna.bsky.social · 17/09/2026(If you press the button I actually just call you a monster and punch you in the throat) 000
MajorMagna @majormagna.bsky.social · 17/09/2026Its like one of those stupid "will you press the button?" prompts. "If you press this button, there's a 95% chance a white British person dies, and a 5% chance a non-white person dies" They'd want to press it 500 times just to make sure. 100
MajorMagna @majormagna.bsky.social · 17/09/2026Reformites and Lowe-ists are trying to kill the RNLI. These nutjobs are perfectly fine putting "white British" lives in danger so long as it ALSO puts non-white lives in danger. 100
MajorMagna @majormagna.bsky.social · 03/09/2026Honestly I can't imagine anything BUT Cliff Eidelman's score in that film... Somehow he DIDN'T get much acclaim for it? 010
MajorMagna @majormagna.bsky.social · 28/08/2026Trumps jingoistic ass demanding Lake Ontario be renamed because he's a dumb fuck and his cult will back him 100% because they don't know/care that Ontario, Canada, is named AFTER THE LAKE YOU DUMB FUCKS. You don't rule the world, you make up less than 5% of the planets population dipshits. 000
MajorMagna @majormagna.bsky.social · 28/08/2026I still play Team Fortress 2, released 19 years ago... I don't consider that retro, either. Weird. 000
MajorMagna @majormagna.bsky.social · 27/08/2026I can't believe Louie Duck scammed his way into GTA VI... 000
MajorMagna @majormagna.bsky.social · 19/08/2026And today he told me to "lighten up and stop being a miserable c*nt" when I told him something he said was EXTREMELY homophobic AND transphobic.static.klipy.comDexter IdkALT: Dexter Idk 000
MajorMagna @majormagna.bsky.social · 19/08/2026So ¼ impulse uses ¼ the power of full impulse, but CAN reach the same speed given enough time. The speeds we actually SEE in Trek are significantly below the stated speeds in tech manuals, the only time we see impulse drives having any real oomph behind them is in TNGs Best of Both Worlds. 000
MajorMagna @majormagna.bsky.social · 19/08/2026A recent thread about replicators has reminded me of several other #StarTrek technology "headcanons", theories, and opinions I hold. 1. Impulse drive: The generally accepted "full impulse is ¼ lightspeed" is TOO fast. IMO fractions of impulse power relate specifically to the output, not the speed. 110
MajorMagna @majormagna.bsky.social · 18/08/2026Somehow they did WORSE than they did with Bashir, they took a west-asian character and made them generically English... and straight-up white, to add insult to injury. But yes, Khan Singh WAS the only named character (not actor) that I recall having that kind of ancestry prior to Dr. Bashir. 130
MajorMagna @majormagna.bsky.social · 18/08/2026I mean, I hate to bring this up but... Star Trak had, for a long time, almost NO west-asian representation. Then when they finally tried? They made the character generically English. 150
MajorMagna @majormagna.bsky.social · 18/08/2026To be fair I see that as more possible, the transporter buffer is literally FOR holding people's patterns, a single transporter room has 6 pads, so a single room SHOULD be able to hold six patterns... Add in space for a couple more because Starfleet LOVES its redundancies, and I can see it working. 050
MajorMagna @majormagna.bsky.social · 18/08/2026Plus all that extra ODN cabling you'd need to connect it together would come in handy during ANY disaster! Just yank it out of the bulkheads! 050
MajorMagna @majormagna.bsky.social · 18/08/2026It's basically a memory-saving technique, so replicated foods don't have all the nuances that a "real" dish would have. Plus the end result is identical, every time. There's no slight variation you'd get with hand-made food, or properly-aged wine. 050
MajorMagna @majormagna.bsky.social · 18/08/2026I hate to jump into a conversation, but this actually is something I've wondered before... My "headcanon" is that the replicators don't "perfectly" replicate foods. The transporter basically "dumps" its memory every transport-cycle, but the replicators have to store data for many dishes permanently 260
MajorMagna @majormagna.bsky.social · 18/08/2026Racist guy at work is playing his reels at full volume and its all AI generated music and "comedy skits" that he find's HILARIOUS. Good to know that all sub-90 IQ people are the same. 200

MajorMagna @majormagna.bsky.social · 18/08/2026The Duras sisters were done dirty, they were reduced to almost hired goons in Generations. If they HAD to go out, they should have been the primary antagonists. 010

MajorMagna @majormagna.bsky.social · 16/08/2026The only thing that let it down was the WiiU pad controls... but even then they didn't ruin it! Zero had great character designs, great adaptions of ships and levels, and even included the walker mode from StarFox 2! 000
MajorMagna @majormagna.bsky.social · 15/08/2026That so many of the characters are SHOWN to have hobbies and interests outside of work, sometimes multiple! Picard loves to read, O'Brien has kayaking, Kim plays the clarinet, Pike loves horses... it makes them all seem more REAL. 010
MajorMagna @majormagna.bsky.social · 14/08/2026You did this @telegraph.co.uk For clicks. I hope his family gets every penny you made from hounding this man. 000

MajorMagna @majormagna.bsky.social · 08/08/2026I got to maybe the 15 minute mark and honestly thought we were just getting "Banned From Argo" by Leslie Fish & The Dehorn Crew... Which itself I guess was heavily inspired by Star Trek 010
MajorMagna @majormagna.bsky.social · 08/08/2026I'm not gonna lie, by the 20 minute mark I REALLY thought Strange New Worlds 4x03 was doing an episode based on "Banned From Argo" by Leslie Fish & The Dehorn Crew... Which would have been probably a bit TOO far, actually. 000
MajorMagna @majormagna.bsky.social · 11/07/2026There were, curiously, several explosions... Though not nuclear. Probably for the best. 020
