I was recently reminded of the "not-so-great science" seen in Star Trek TNG's "Ship in a Bottle" where two "planets" collide to form a star. Even two of the most massive gas giants (approx 13 times Jupiters mass) wouldn't reach the 80-ish Jupiter-masses required to start Hydrogen-fusion.

A recent thread about replicators has reminded me of several other #StarTrek technology "headcanons", theories, and opinions I hold. 1. Impulse drive: The generally accepted "full impulse is ¼ lightspeed" is TOO fast. IMO fractions of impulse power relate specifically to the output, not the speed.

That so many of the characters are SHOWN to have hobbies and interests outside of work, sometimes multiple! Picard loves to read, O'Brien has kayaking, Kim plays the clarinet, Pike loves horses... it makes them all seem more REAL.

Disappointing from North Yorkshire Council, AI generated imagery plus incorrect info (the station wasn't named Scarborough CENTRAL until 1933). And there's going to be 400 of these around the town, probably with the same image source and lack of fact checking.

One of 400 "deckchair" posters soon to be seen around Scarborough, featuring an AI generated image of a generic looking steam train next to a generic looking platform.

A descriptive board next to the deckchair, it reads:

Something I've dusted off and one that I really should complete, is this lovely 3D printed fairground organ from Specular Models. Chucked a speaker in it myself and decorated it with teeny tiny little space marines. Perfect for those outdoor modeller meetups. 😂 👍

Why are people so mad that the Star Fox characters look more like their original box-art depictions than ever before? Though I have to admit, the aesthetic of Star Fox: Zero was incredible (in my opinion superior in style to the 3D rendering in the Mario Galaxy Movie).
