First time a linnet turns up for me here, but quite upstaged by this surprise cameo! Not a Merlin hallucination this time but a very clear hoot 😍🦉 #birdlove

Oh my lord 😭😭 Himself met the new Visiting Research Fellow at lunch:
Screenshot from whatsapp quoting the VRF: "I was excited to come to Merton as a VRF in part because of the interesting things that past VRFs have done. In particular, there was a woman who made a book about the planets and time using local materials here at Merton."

Edition done, I'm shattered! I think two of them are good, lol. But I learned lots so a third attempt should do it. What do you think, worth it? If I continued to make 10-12 good prints I'd put them in a nice mount and finish the dots with gold.
Finished prints drying, most with small blemishes.

Here's something I've been working on, on and off, since summer. Like most techniques, mokuhanga requires dedicated practice to achieve fluency & at the moment my skill lags far behind the vision I have for it. But I have to start somewhere. I'm trying another print run today, with fingers crossed.

A few days ago as I was having breakfast with the door to the garden open, a squirrel stepped into the kitchen carrying an enormous walnut. I said “No.” and he turned around to find some other place to stash it. This is the only reason I wasn’t bewildered by the bins under the apple tree today.

Now there’s someone printing a “recipe” they’ve scrounged from the internet without trying it. Laughing my head off. Poppies for red ink, leaves for green ink? Gosh, why didn’t I think of that 🙄
Picture of a book page with the following recipe: CORNFLOWER INK
This is something fun to make with children or for yourself if you are creative. Gather cornflowers to make turquoise blue ink, poppies for red ink, buttercups for yellow ink and use different leaves to make green ink - the method remains the same.
INGREDIENTS
Enough petals to loosely fill a jam jar
2 jam jars of water
1 tsp white vinegar
Pinch of salt
Equipment needed
Paintbrush or dip pen
METHOD
Bring the water to the boil and stir in your petals - use a nonmetallic container if possible.
Simmer until the liquid has changed colour and reduced by half.
Add the vinegar and salt to "fix" the colour.
Strain out your petals and your ink is ready to use either with a paintbrush or a dip pen.

This is Esteban. Esteban was designed by evolution to be a terrific snake hunter, and was terrified of snakes for the first 2.5 years of his life. He’s now reconnected with his authentic nature and has his own fan club.

1.3 The Inquiry by the much, much regretted Justin Richards I'm not sure I'm happy with this one, want to do another scene to do justice to this episode, but hey, have it for the time being.

It's hard to get back to work after a good convention 😭 I'm making a thread for something else I yanked from the bad place: my #Gallifrey comics… I made these (and hope to continue) to illustrate one favourite scene per episode of this fabulous Doctor Who spinoff series by @bigfinish.bsky.social.
