I think if I heard a friend say that I’d correct they every single time honestly….

Congrats on such an incredible season Dawei! You were really my first friend in VG with all the local drives last year before I really knew anyone and I’m thankful to have gotten to know you and learn from you! Age is just a number and I’m sure you will accomplish whatever you set out to do #RIVGC

I hope to keep improving, learning, traveling, and having fun playing this game for years to come with the friends I’ve made. Long post, but I’m a numbers nerd and wanted to share mine! Much appreciated for anyone who actually read this long🫶

My goal now shifts to worlds and putting on the best performance I can. Not sure what next season has in store and I’m looking to make the most of this opportunity! I’m really proud to have earned this invite, but I’m nowhere near the peak that I strive to reach.

@pengy.bsky.social for obsessing over Kyogre with me and having so much fun working together. And so many others not limited to Zach @konqvgc.bsky.social @lintyy.bsky.social @charjoscho.bsky.social Grant @sunoru.bsky.social Zhe Yichun and the rest of New England VGC!

This game has been made so much better by those I’ve met and want to thank! Sam P for consistently pushing and motivating me to get better, the most underrated player in NA. Tone for prepping and cheering each other on all season. Absolute goat.

I told myself I was not going to grind a worlds invite this year and would focus on these goals, but I managed to stay within T75 all year. It wasn’t fun slipping in rank after EUIC since Bologna was the only major I attended afterwards, but overall I’m really proud of my season.

130

Maine Marshtomp @mainemarshtomp.bsky.social · 14/06/2025

My quantitative goals this season were: 1. Get my first top cut (Sacramento ✅ San Antonio✅) 2. Get my first IC day 2 (EUIC ✅) Qualitatively my goals were to have fun, improve as a player, and build/test more with friends.

Maine Marshtomp @mainemarshtomp.bsky.social · 14/06/2025

Qualifying in 2024 was something I’d wanted to do since 2010. When I finally did at Indy 2024 I couldn’t believe it, but it was a grind and it’s all I focused on that season. This season I had no clue if I could qualify again, and I wanted to set different goals for myself.

120

Maine Marshtomp @mainemarshtomp.bsky.social · 14/06/2025

It also shows that if the same system had been in place last year I wouldn’t have come close to qualifying for Honolulu. All that said I grew a ton this year and getting my invite this year was actually way less stressful than before because my goal wasn’t to qualify at all.

120

Maine Marshtomp @mainemarshtomp.bsky.social · 14/06/2025

What my previous post shows is that if I’d had the same season I had this year, last year instead, I would have finished 21st in NA. This year those finishes equated to 58th place showing how much further players had to push to get their invites this season with the new system.

Maine Marshtomp @mainemarshtomp.bsky.social · 14/06/2025

This is a direct comparison to last year. CP payout/BFL were all changed this year so looking at CP this year vs last head on doesn’t really tell the full story. 2025 CP Actual: 1025 CP 2024 CP adjusted for 2025: 665 CP 2024 CP Actual: 550 CP 2025 CP adjusted for 2024: 847 CP

Next, I wanted to share the breakdown of how I earned my invite between Majors, Locals, and GC’s. I used a google sheet to keep track of my BFL’s throughout the year. It also includes paste, notes, and regulation.

I officially qualified for the 2025 Pokémon VGC World Championships! I wanted to go over the numbers and my overall thoughts in this thread. First, here are the Pokemon (BFL only) that helped me secure my 2nd trip to worlds! (Special shoutout only day 2 Greninja this year!)

Although they haven’t announced it yet (which is crazy since it’s the only region in the world not to confirm this) my guess is they will all still qualify and get their invite

Since the very first day the Shibuya Pokemon center opened I’ve asked the employees every time I visit when they would add Hoenn Pokémon to the design lab. My wish finally came true 🫶💙 #ヌマクローLove

I am so proud of my partners for this event, Big Tone and Chase. We worked so hard on perfecting every detail of this team, every matchup line and it paid off with an incredible combined swiss record of 28-5. Congrats to Chase on top cut and Tony on 4 consecutive day 2s
