Why can't every website with logins have such a button? Some websites and services turn an account deletion request into a huge drama. Others let me self-delete my account in 2 seconds, which saves the mutual hassle.

Google playing along with the Lake Bullshit renaming is just a reminder that Big Tech does not have an ethical or moral compass. They will make a deal with the 👹 if it suits them. The EU needs to bring the 🔨 down on Big Tech. 🇨🇦 🇪🇺

Nobody has been getting more flak recently than @github.com for their continued outages. That's why I appreciate when they roll out small quality of life improvement like this little repository switcher.
Screenshot shows a red arrow that points at the new repository selector.

Double customer service anti-pattern: Step 1: Send me an unwanted customer satisfaction survey. Step 2: Tell me that my screen size is too small to see the unsubscribe page. It's wild what you can see in the wild.

I don't know how long this lasts, but OpenCode Go has temporarily increased MiniMax M3 usage limits. Great opportunity to test a non-mainstream LLM.

@zed.dev By default, the review diff can be sent to the last agent. But it starts a new conversation. Usually, I first want the agent to read the ticket into the context and then look at the diff. Is there a way to copy paste the branch diff into whatever agent session is currently open?

I asked my agent to give me a Svelte example for something it suggested. And it whipped up a Svelte playground and gave me the link to it. 😮

It looks like selling AI code completion for an editor is not a great way to make money any longer.

Uhm, @github.com, would you mind running some integration tests before updating your website?

Handy to have a shiny new dashboard that helps me navigate to the changelog of an NPM package super fast. Well done, @npmx.dev 👏

Dipping my toe in the waters of agent skills. The idea is to unclutter your context and let the agent decide when to pull more advanced stuff into the context. @vercel.com put together a site to discover skills: skills.sh Yet to be seen if skills improve my perceived agent experience.

If, hypothetically, I wanted to see the movie, I would have to look for a country nearby that screens it 🤣

As much as I love Svelte(Kit), its job market has been bad and is not trending upwards. In NL, React and Vue dominate openings. Svelte is close to nonexistent. The screenshot from an opening in DE is a painful reminder that the stack most loved by devs, is perceived differently by decision makers.
Screenshot from a job opening stating that they use Svelte and SvelteKit but are moving towards React + TanStack.

Hi Kevin, thanks for reporting this. Can you reproduce this? And when it happens do you see anything in the console? You can reach the console via Chrome dev tools, see screenshot. I followed you back so you should be able to DM me with a screenshot if you see anything.

New trend in my inbox: SPAM emails wrapped in Google Calendar entries. Interesting approach to wrap crap in an email that will breeze through SPAM filtering. And a potential problem for any service that uses customizable transactional emails.

One of the few real world examples of a bookmarked PWA being promoted at a larger scale. This is what you see when you try to install the official emergency app in my area. Kudos to to whoever decided to opt for web standards 👏

While I wait for Apple to fix all the little things broken across devices, I'm still trying to wrap my head around that they had nothing else to do for a year other than focus on transparency gimmicks and rounded corners.

I give Vercel credit for transforming frontend dev with immutable deploys. Abstracting away servers was liberating. But as times change, the downsides of this model deserve more attention. I have switched to Railway as stepping stone toward a European hosting solution.

Has anyone building with #SvelteKit and `adapter-node` seen this type of error? Screenshot is a Railway build. Local build works fine. Happens occasionally. This is a Vercel to Railway migration. Never had this issue on Vercel. #Svelte

Using `<enhanced:img />` in Markdown in a mdsvex file in combination with code fences that look like Svelte confuses the Vite plugin. Wrapping `<enhanced:img />` in a Svelte component and import that component into an mdsvex fixes this. But it's not pretty.

Besides the UX glitches there are so many visual glitches caused by liquid glass transparency behavior. It probably takes higher Math to calculate the distortion in the screenshot below but it’s visually unpleasant.

If you want a lot of hassle with OG images, auto-generate them like I do on my website. It's a moving target where one week it works with Mastodon but not on Bluesky and the following week it's the other way round. All that while the OG image testing website always manages to render it.

New favorite family game BombBusters. It’s a game where kids learn to deduce based on more information being revealed. And because it’s a cooperative game, they pick up team player skills on the fly.

Coat of Arms at Bouillon Castle in Bouillon in Wallonia this morning. And no, it’s not AI generated. It’s art.
The coat of arms looks like a medieval object but a closer look reveals modern brands from the US and Europe.

Two days ago, I struggled with permissions in `changesets/action`. Eventually, I figured out how to troubleshoot registry auth issues in a branch without messing up my PR history. Will probably do a write-up of what I learned.

Google Maps in NL is full of surprises, not only while you navigate. Amsterdam Centraal with the logo of Deutsche Bahn is hilarious. Transit directions work much better with www.ns.nl. And for car and bike navigation OSM-based www.magicearth.com rocks.

It's basically performance vs. Satori rendering quirks. For instance, I have generated attached OG image with Satori a while ago but the underline text looks weird. That's why I have not yet rolled it out. That's why I am trying to get a sense which trade-off I want to make.

This is a game changer for Copilot. But not a good one from a dev perspective. No more VC-sponsored unlimited premium requests. Curious to see if and how AI adoption shifts when people need to pay real $$$.

Got hold of the paper version of @sarahedo.bsky.social's "Engineering Management for the rest of us" book. Beside the invaluable engineering management lessons she shares, it's a joy for my eyes to read it. Proper typesetting and illustrations matter and are big reason why I dislike e-books.

#Svelte 5 migration gotcha: When you use arrays or objects as with the `$state` rune, Svelte makes them magically reactive. But `Set` it's not reactive. You have to use `SvelteSet` from `svelte/reactivity` to make things work as expected.

Claude sounds like someone getting caught peddling fake information, who might continue peddling different fake information in their next sentence. This is maybe funny because it was a tech topic. But it's not difficult to imagine topics where the fun would end before you spelled hallucination.

GitHub's choice to differentiate between Copilot chat and edits leads to a subpar developer experience. Why can't they be combined into a single chat interface? Though it may seem like a minor point, it adds significant friction. Copilot feels like a rushed imitation of Cursor.
