But what about the question of what we will do with these data-centers after their owners go bankrupt, possibly even before they can be provisioned with electricity? How many laser-tag arenas do we actually need? 22/

Every summer I repost this article on how to spot drowning. Please read it and pass on. In the last few years I’ve had SIX messages from people who saved a kid’s life after clicking on the link from my feed. slate.com/technology/2...

Drowning Doesn’t Look Like Drowning
Drowning is not the violent, splashing call for help that most people expect.

In 2025, more power was generated worldwide from renewable energy than from coal, and 91% of new renewables are now cheaper than fossil fuels. Each year nuclear adds only as much net global power capacity as renewables add every two days.

Part of why I’m excited for what’s happening with Solar is how it benefits poorer countries specifically. Clean energy independence without relying on gas imports often from rich countries. One less cartel to worry about, that’s actually liberating.

A billionaire can get what they want with one donation to a political party. The rest of us must fight for years to get even the most basic rights recognised. Money destroys democracy, more than any other cause. The first step towards a better world is to stop the rich buying political outcomes.

Why should any political donations other than a standard annual party membership fee (say £25) be permitted? All other options allow wealthy people disproportionate political influence.

Btw my key realisation when I was out there was that I was totally wrong about mandatory voting. The liberal implications are miniscule, but the political benefits are huge. I'm a firm convert.

Did you know the global software developer population's much *larger* than it was in 2022? Did you know tech layoffs were in full swing when ChatGPT launched? Did you know AI companies are hiring engineers in large numbers? A quick fact-check: codemanship.wordpress.com/2026/03/02/i...

Is AI Killing Software Engineering Jobs?
One claim I see repeated widely on social media is that LLM-based coding tools are taking software engineering jobs. These are often accompanied by extrapolations that soon – any time now &#8…
