Fun fact: if you're buying from a creator on etsy, you can reduce their etsy selling fees from 6.5% to 2.5% by ordering via 'shopname.etsy.com' instead of 'etsy.com/shopname' or searching from the main site. It costs you the same but the creator makes more

I don’t know who needs to hear this today, but please never stop being excited about the things you love. Your enthusiasm *will* annoy some people, and that’s great. It will help you weed out the people who don’t value the gift of your uncynical, unabashed happiness.

The people complaining about having set casts at fantasy events because they “want to be the main character and not a performer ” have not written enough self insert fanfic spinoffs on Wattpad. Like idk what to tell you babes, stop acting like an npc and go dance?

A friend of many years lost her home in the Tubbs fire near Santa Rosa years back. The advice she posted just now about how she got through seems not only sound for anyone who might currently be suffering similarly in LA, but for the future should anyone be in similar straits, no matter the cause.

As a Tubbs Fire survivor who went through the rebuild process I have to add this:
1. When you save receipts write down in the back exactly what it was for.
2. Start a diary of every single interaction with the insurance company. We were handed off to 5 different agents and told many things. We got a small check and then couldn’t get anything for another 3 months. Write down names, email, phone numbers and WHO you spoke to and the nature of the conversation. Ask for them to email you a summary of what was said or agreed upon!
3. Get divider tabs for your 3 ring notebook and have sections for utilities, insurance, personal belongings, rebuild process, etc. This was my “bible”. It went everywhere with complete documentation. You may normally be a person on top of things with a sharp memory but your entire world has been turned upside down.
4. PTSD is real. Get ready.
5. Don’t be stoic. Take advantage of friends willing to help whether it is to do your laundry, make a meal, give you a place to stay, or give you clothing. This runs out soon.
6. Secure housing ASAP! This was a huge problem in our community. Some of the closest rentals ended up being 1.5 hours away by the time people got insurance checks to look for housing.
7. Like Jessica said above. BREATHE…

The travel group. Half of them waited on a balcony while the other half walks in singing with the estudiantina to show them how serenades worked in the past. They do all this in 17th century garb! 5000/10 experience would do again (Fyi though I’m not sure if they do these tours in diff languages)

Of the city through song. There are different guilds based off of the sponsoring school and each guild wears different colors (AGAIN WHEN I SAY THIS WAS MADE FOR FANTASY). There are different tours they take you on depending on what you wanna learn. Theres even a part where they separate - 2/3
