Oil over $100 again. Maybe now our leaders will finally admit the obvious: letting millions of Americans work from home is not just good for the environment, it is the most patriotic thing we can do. Fewer commutes, less foreign oil, stronger country.

North Korea kept its nukes - no invasion. Ukraine gave theirs up - 12 years of war. Is this the message we are sending to Iran?

Like guns in the Wild West, nukes are needed when rules can’t be enforced. In a world of reliable international law, they’re redundant; in a world of force, they become insurance.

Rule if law seem to be: poor people get investigated middle-class people get prosecuted rich people get “we don’t have enough to proceed”

The law that is never enforced against the powerful is not law at all.

Corporations prize efficiency and control. Democracies prize rights and pluralism. A great CEO isn’t the model for a great democratic leader. The purpose of democracy is freedom, not efficiency.

CEOs make worst politicians. Companies are run like small dictatorships without much oversight, and their leaders are used to hype and spin to please investors, while fairness or open accountability are considered to be naive and unproductive.

Elegant way to curb crypto speculation: apply a small negative-carry wealth tax on crypto holdings (1% per month) via mark-to-market. No bans, no surveillance, no tech regulation. If people still want to gamble, fine — but pay the negative carry. Filters speculation, preserves innovation.

A stable currency is a core promise of modern government. Inflation violates that promise and quietly redistributes wealth without consent. Breach of trust has a long half-life.

Inflation is the government’s secret tax, the one they swore wouldn’t be used. The Fed is supposed to protect price stability, but inflation ends up breaking the trust that underpins the relationship between government and the people.

Companies exist to make money for shareholders and executives, and they only act responsibly when competition gives them no choice. Don’t try to over-regulate them into being nice to customers - break them up to boost competition. It would lead to more jobs and better service for consumers.

AI is either going to replace us and make tech companies billions or fail and get subsidized by taxpayers. Either way, it’s a win-win for tech and a lose-lose for everyone else.

Economic models show that high inequality generates endogenous recessions: no external shock needed. Demand shortfalls emerge purely from spending behavior of rich vs poor agents. Inequality always leads to unemployment.

Simple midterm rule: no more incumbents. If they didn’t do the job, they don’t earn another term. If both candidates are incumbents, pick the one with less time in office.

Companies aren’t hiring because they don’t need additional labor, not because credit is expensive. We all are going to regret Fed rate cuts. Fed was too late to increase rates during the covid, and now are too quick to decrease them.
000
magicsany.bsky.social @magicsany.bsky.social · 10/12/2025
The Fed’s rate cut misreads the moment: softer employment isn’t from weak demand—corporate profits are at all-time highs. Lowering rates won’t fix unemployment, it’ll just pump more air into an already overinflated AI bubble.

Clinton’s 1993 “reform” of CEO pay was a gift to corporate America. By capping salaries but exempting “performance pay,” he supercharged stock-option compensation and helped blow open the CEO–worker pay gap we’re stuck with today. Democrats talk about inequality, but Clinton made it much worse.

It is wild how AI companies can scrape the whole internet to train models under “fair use,” yet kids can still get slapped with lawsuits for downloading a few songs. Copyright law isn’t protecting creativity, it’s punishing the powerless while giving giants a free pass.
000
magicsany.bsky.social @magicsany.bsky.social · 04/12/2025
Copyright law keeps getting weaponized against kids while Congress refuses to add a monetization clause to the DMCA. Without real protections for non-commercial use, Americans could end up losing half the open internet. How is this sustainable?

magicsany.bsky.social @magicsany.bsky.social · 25/11/2025
It’s a mistake to cut rates in this environment. Lower rates won’t fix unemployment when corporate profits are already at all-time highs. Layoffs aren’t happening because of weak demand — they’re strategic. Cutting rates now will only overheat the economy and inflate AI bubble.

AI is a lose-lose business model. If AI lives up to the hype, it will disrupt legacy software business model for firms like Microsoft collapsing their valuation. If AI fails to deliver, the massive capex becomes unsustainable and valuations collapse.

Work-from-home showed a real-world proof of concept: emissions dropped, congestion disappeared, people saved money, productivity didn’t collapse. People saw the difference with their own eyes, which makes it hard to accept abstract trillion-dollar policies while this simple fix is ignored.

Democrats continue to face challenges in presenting a strong opposition narrative. Policies like open borders, inflation, and defunding the police are not broadly popular with most Americans. If they hope to achieve a blue wave in the midterms, they need to clearly communicate their positions.

Remote work slashes carbon emissions by cutting daily commutes—yet most companies and governments ignore it. We push solar, wind & EVs, but overlook the simplest climate solution: letting people work from home. 🌍💻 #ClimateAction #RemoteWork

AI Is A Money Trap
In the last week, we’ve had no less than _three_ _different_ _pieces_ asking whether the massive proliferation of data centers is a massive bubble, and though they, at times, seem to take the default position of AI’s inevitable value, they’ve begun to sour on

Long ago, we understood the need to separate church from state. Only now are we waking up to the need to separate government from corporate oligarchs. To truly serve the people, we must amend the Constitution and remove corrupt money from politics—it’s We the People, not We the Wealthy Corporations.

This is how our government has been corrupted: 1) Donors give huge sums to elect politicians to office. 2) Elected officials rewrite the rules in the donors' favor. 3) Donors make a huge profit. 4) Repeat. For the sake of democracy, we must get Big Money out of politics.

The rich and powerful have little use for democracy - they don’t need rights and freedoms because they have influence. Our liberties limit what they can do to others. That’s what frustrates them: our rights act as barriers to their power. And they despise those limits—so they try to dismantle them.

The biggest barrier to widespread AI adoption is a lack of trust. Corporations avoid taking responsibility for AI-generated output, while users are skeptical about data privacy and the objectivity of insights. For AI to truly succeed, it must be trustworthy.

The deeper divide isn’t really about race or politics anymore—it’s about class. The real power gap is between those who have wealth and influence and those who don’t. If we really want to fix inequality, we have to look at it through that lens, across all backgrounds.

About $650 million per month (or about $7.8 billion per year) would be needed to provide modest housing for the current homeless population in the USA. Also it’s an investment that can generate long-term economic and social returns. $7–8 billion annual “price tag” would likely pay off.
