For 95% of our existence as a species we were egalitarian in nature. No leaders, just group cooperation, and bullies and resource hoarders were either socially shunned, exiled, or killed. Not sure if that may help shift things just a bit, but we're more than the shittiest of us. Still. 🫂

Corvallis, Oregon has a free bus system (it's a college town) and boy, is it a boon and a lifesaver. I am never truly stuck anywhere when I'm visiting a friend there. Designated bike lanes, sidewalks, free public transport- it's not perfect but it's liberating.

If it helps, TV Glow is less standard horror with jump scares and violence and more existential dread and low simmering terror. It's a great film to dip your toes in if your wife isn't normally a horror junkie.

MBB is a long form comic but that's not all the comic making we do. For folks who aren't familiar with the concept, zines are short form comics/essays/stories that creators make by hand!

Yes, this! As wonderful as it is for something to turn up canon, no one can stop you from daydreaming. Hell, because anyone queer pre- Gen Z had so little rep, we dreamed much and often and knew canon didn't (and often wouldn't) reflect those dreams. And that's okay! Dream big, rep or no!

5. I buy books at local stores like Byrd's books or The Enchanted Violet (in CT, USA) whenever I can but you can also find me haunting the aisles at Barnes and Noble and Newbury Comics. (As a side note, for comics, if I'm in the area I try to visit Aw Yeah Comics in Harrison, NY :3 )

1. Lover's Knot by Donald Hardy. Don't be fooled by its cover; it's a very well structured, atmospheric story on a young gay man's grief with a sprinkling of supernatural elements and a friends to lovers side plot. It's also historical fiction so it ticks a lot of boxes. I read it once a year :)
