It's the ODOJ's position that this should be assessed on a case by cas basis. They do not want trans women to be in men's prisons. That's why they wanted the injunction overturned.

"War is generated by the unjust inequitable capitalist structure of society. In order to put an end to war, the structure of society must be changed." Nothing has changed since World War 1. Endless imperialist wars will continue so long as capitalism continues. www.marxists.org/archive/koll...
Once the true cause of war, its purpose, has been understood, another question arises: what is to be done? How can the slaughter be stopped? How can the people be spared new conflicts and disputes among the capitalists, new wars, in the future? Before seeking the answer to these questions one must realize one thing: while capitalism continues to exist, while there is private ownership of land, factories, plants, etc., upon the earth, while citizens continue to be divided into the haves and the have-nots, into capitalists who have seized state power and hired workers without rights, while capitalists continue to fight amongst themselves on the world market for the sake of their profits, wars are inevitable. Wars will only end when the power of the capitalists has been smashed, when the owner-exploiters are no longer able to harm the people and push them into bloody conflicts. War is generated by the unjust inequitable capitalist structure of society. In order to put an end to war, the structure of society must be changed. In order to put an end to war, all the factories, all the plants, all the industrial enterprises must be removed from the capitalist masters: the land must be taken from the landowners, the mines from private proprietors, the banks from the capitalists, and all this wealth must become common property. In order to put an end to war, a new and juster socialist world must be won for the people, for the working class.

The idea that trans people are to blame for GOP campaign spending against Democrats has always been extremely stupid. Obviously, if they didn't run these ads (which are not proven to be highly effective) they would simply run other ads with the same money. Me in December 2024:
One other potential reason for the focus on trans rights could have been to persuade Democratic politicians to take a more conservative position on trans rights, so that they could get enough votes in the Senate to pass legislation such as bathroom bans or the codification of "biological sex." This reason is particularly compelling, since the ads seem to have potentially swayed the minds of at least a few Democrats in Congress.

Focus group data from anti-trans ads might have reinforced the decision to invest in these ads, but that doesn't mean that it was the most efficient possible use of that money. If Democrats had a more conservative position on trans rights, the GOP still would have spent $200 million on TV ads to persuade swing voters, which they could have used to focus on more broadly salient topics such as inflation or immigration.

The wild part about Talarico is that he had exactly the right line on trans kids during the primaries. But the day after he secured of LGBT votes in the primaries, he betrayed everyone. What little trust trans people had left with the Democratic party is gone. They can lose on their own without us.
Upon entering the race for U.S. Senate in

September, Talarico responded to a question about his views on trans athletes during an interview with MS NOW by saying, "We need not only the media, but all of us to focus on the real problem at hand."

"I think it's interesting. I've been in this race five days, and I've had a lot of interviews with national media - no one's ever asked me about the cost of housing," Talarico said. "No one's asked me about the cost of prescription drugs. No one's asked me about the cost of child care. The only thing the media wants to ask me about are trans athletes."

"So, what I would say is that the only minority destroving this country is the billionaires," he continued. "Trans people are one percent of the population.

Undocumented people are one percent of the population. Muslims are one percent of the population. We are all focused on the wrong one percent. Trans people aren't taking away our health care. Undocumented people aren't defunding our schools. Muslims aren't cutting taxes for themselves and their rich friends. It's the billionaires and their puppet

politicians."

@equalityohio.bsky.social is too scared to give a transphobic bigot politician lower than a "B" rating on LGBTQ rights despite repeatedly arguing that trans girls are men. It's just further proof that "queer" nonprofits have nothing to offer us other than selling us out to Democrats over and over.
Why Equality Orgs Are Struggling
Following Equality Ohio’s “B” designation for Amy Acton, EITM reached out to the organization to ask why Acton had been given such a high grade following her statements and lack of contrition. When asked how their B grade for Acton aligns with the grade’s requirement of “supportive public statements,” Dwayne Steward at Equality Ohio responded stating, “In the Equality Ohio Candidate Scorecard, a ‘B’ means ‘insufficient record but supportive public statements.’ The reduced score reflects our concern about support of trans Ohioans, alongside her broader record and positions, as stated above.” He then pointed to other statements Acton had made that the organization considers supportive, such as that she “will always stand up for Ohioans, including the LGBT community,” and that “as governor, she is committed to standing up to discrimination and ensuring all Ohioans receive equal protection under the law.” Neither statement mentions transgender people.

When asked if Equality Ohio requested Acton retract her statement calling trans girls “boys” and her support for a sports ban, Equality Ohio did not answer that portion of the question. And when asked about Acton barring the Pride Caucus vice chair from the call and failing to appear at her own meeting, Equality Ohio pointed elsewhere: “We recommend you speak to the Acton Campaign directly about any meetings their team conducted. Dr. Acton’s comments didn’t happen in a vacuum. They’re part of a broader pattern of politicians using trans people as a scapegoat, often based on data that’s simply false. These comments are harmful and a distraction from the issues most voters want addressed.”

honestly I totally believe that most journalists use AI this much and Lorenz is the only one who is at least honest about it. 😭
Would you read a newsletter where the copy was 100% Al-generated?

Absolutely, I love several newsletters that are Al-generated. I subscribe to a newsletter from a social listening tool that sends a weekly automated roundup of trending content and analysis of that content. It's completely Al-generated, and I find it incredibly useful. There are newsletter writers I specifically follow for their taste and their voice or their unique writing. And then there are newsletters I get that I think are potentially automated or openly automated, or partially automated, I guess I should say, and I find

a lot of value from those as well. What are your Al pet peeves? Is there anything that irks you about how you see your peers using Al?

I'm in a lot of journalist groups.

Journalists are using Al constantly. I think there are a lot of people who are very performative about Al online. They'll spend all day shitting on Al 24/7, and then they'll come into the group chat saying, "By the way, does anyone know how to use this new Claude tool?" I think that's a disservice to readers, especially if you're a tech writer. I am so critical of mass surveillance, I write critically about these Al companies, I write critically about their lobbying efforts, I report very critically on the Al industry, but I also cover consumer products, and I want people to understand how these products work. I don't want to scare people with hyperbolic claims or misinformation, or just do things I know

would get me more engagement.

Reminder that any trans person like Caleb Smith who does propaganda for transphobic Democrats is a traitor asking you to concede that trans women are essentially men, which is the only basis for trans sports bans. Any Democrat who says this believes trans women are men and should be voted against.
"An influential liberal think tank is urging Democrats to stand firm on supporting transgender people serving in the military and gender-transition care for youths but also to accept some restrictions on transgender athletes.

"The Center for American Progress (CAP), which has long informed the Democratic Party's policy positions, released a paper Wednesday to guide the party on how to respond to GOP pressure on LGBTQ+ issues."

"The think tank says decisions involving transgender athletes should be left to schools and sports groups, an approach many Democrats already take. But the CAP paper explicitly says restrictions on transgender participation 'may be appropriate' and that 'all athletes deserve fair competition and a level playing field.

"We hope that this lowers the temperature and lets us come out of this really scary moment for folks, said Caleb Smith, CAP's director of LGBTQI+ policy, who is transgender and a co-author of the paper."

"Charlotte Clymer, a transgender activist and writer, said Democrats who default to sports group rules are operating 'under the false assumption' that those groups would make reasonable science-based decisions. 'It's a cop-out,' Clymer said."

sure except that's not what Democrats are arguing for, nor what "national service" means! stop acting like we are stupid!
California Gov. Gavin Newsom - an

expected Democratic presidential candidate in 2028 - is raising the prospect of requiring Americans to complete a set period of national service, suggesting commitments ranging from at least six months to as long as a year and a half.

During a taped interview at John's Grill in San Francisco, Politico's Jonathan Martin asked Newsom whether the US should adopt compulsory military service or some form of volunteer obligations.

incredible that the UK social media ban specifically carves out chatbot usage for children from the ban, despite its occasional propensity to encourage children to shoot up schools. you can talk to a delusion-inducing chatbot, but not your online friends! shows just how cynically corrupt this is
15. Do these measures mean children will be banned from using Al chatbots?

The Government recognises that Al can bring benefits to children. Our aim is not to prevent access, but to make sure children can benefit from these technologies safely.

There was never any proof Doberman committed any crimes, of course. The search warrant was clearly bogus, and they never accused or charged her of a crime. But the raid was extremely traumatic and itself is a form of state punishment against dissidents against the fascist regime.
Informant programs have been riddled with issues and allegations that the government targets and takes advantage of vulnerable people, and alleged criminal plots are frequently conceived and proposed by the informants themselves.

For her part, Doberman was rattled by the raid. Though she was not accused of any crimes, the violent raid left her in a persistent state of anxiety. “I’ve been working on my PTSD for years,” she said. “It’s gotten so much worse. And every night now, constant nightmares

Federal agents continue their absurd persecution of trans activists in Texas, humiliating and then offering $200k to one woman. (The Intercept) "Doberman, who is transgender, was denied the opportunity to put on clothes, even after being detained ... She was then forced outside in her underwear."
“I was woken up by a loud crack, a loud bang,” Doberman told The Intercept in her first media interview since the raid. “I shot up and looked directly to my door, where I was then briefly blinded by a very fucking bright flash of light. After I got my vision back, I saw three rifles trained directly at me.”

Officers placed Doberman in handcuffs, she said, and led her to a local police cruiser parked nearby. Doberman, who is transgender, was denied the opportunity to put on clothes, even after being detained and handcuffed by agents. She was then forced outside in her underwear.

“I’m a trans woman — so, trans woman in a very red state, in a very red city, in feminine underwear. Not the best look,” she said.

Here's me in 2016 complaining to a friend about how this random guy would come into my dorm room and talk to my roommate and his friend about which girls my roommate's friend should rape. The worst part is how other "less sexist" men still tolerate men like this.
He said something really racist while using the N word

And keeps telling <roommate friend> to basically rape girls

And asked why didn't <someone> fuck a guy in high school he's really gross man

y'all should lock your door

He just comes and <roommate and friend> are OK with it and I can't kick him out

People always say that LA's streetcar network was removed because of the auto industry, but that's only part of the story. They were also removed because many POC used them, which scared white suburbanites. Today, they still fearmonger about transit. www.segregationbydesign.com/los-angeles/...
transit map before/after street car removals, 1940 vs 2024 in LA, street cars far more widespread in 1940
