BREAKING! RECA Senate passage assured! With 60 votes already (more to come), the Radiation Exposure Compensation Act will pass the body. Biden will sign if he gets the chance. The House needs to act to give benefits to those adversely impacted by US nuclear weapons testing, development & production.

The facility housing much of the US weapons-grade plutonium, Pantex, is surrounded by wildfire and temporarily shut down. Wildfires have similarly threatened Los Alamos in the recent past. Let's hope fire never meets nuclear material. The nuclear complex can't take climate change for granted.

The House is voting on amendments to the FY24 Energy & Water Development appropriations act, the bill that funds the research & development of nuclear weapons. Rep. Garamendi has offered sensible amendments to limit the production of new plutonium pits that would be used to make new nuclear weapons.
