i took the piss out of @robarmstrong.bsky.social when he said this but in fairness, he was indeed making a good point. It just started weirdly. Proof that the pod is very much unscripted/unrehearsed/slightly chaotic www.ft.com/content/845a...

Algorithm-assisted personalized risk communication to encourage flu vaccination in the USA: three randomized field trials
Nature Human Behaviour, Published online: 05 October 2026; doi:10.1038/s41562-026-02603-4Rosenbaum et al. show that targeted communications highlighting patients’ high-risk status increased influenza vaccination uptake. However, they did not find an additional effect of informing patients that a computer algorithm was used to identify their risk status.

Short distance cycled in forecastable ways are where electric shines. The larger the network, the more forecastable some of the nodes are.

Depends on what you want. It’s like ranking Mozart against Rock music in the case of Vienna vs Shanghai. Do you like the familiar? Personally my vibe would be: NYC>Beijing>Paris>Vienna>Shanghai Probably could vectorize why.

Not sure why, but Canadian cities seem to love flying saucer architecture. Nearly every large one has some weird observation deck thing going on. Though think Vancouver’s might be an air traffic control tower.

No, not at all. I meant easy to stay in glamorous hotels, with fine furnishings. Drive in expensive cars. Go to insane clubs. Eat expensive and interesting foods. Never setting foot on public transport. I went out to the third ring-road and it was very different. St. Petersburg < Moscow here.

In the coming years it will be an electoral loser to focus on the soon to be dead and dying instead of the living. The bond markets will get many votes.

Having been to Moscow on a couple of occasions (pre Ukraine, admittedly) you could easily craft a Miami-on-Moskva itinerary, that would make SoBe look lame. Good to make money? For a group. Good to spend money? Yes.

Yet again, I shriek into the void, Anglo-Russian rivalry in the HinduKush was a minor sideshow compared to Anglo-French rivalry everywhere, the Boer War as a Anglo-German proxy conflict, & above all, US expansion into the Pacific via the Spanish-American War, making it THE MAINE EVENT of the 1890s.

Read the articles on how much it costs to have your kids in sports teams, likely pay for their education, and rent… the cost of a “middle class” life has exploded. Door dash is a drop in the bucket comparatively.

This oil stuff is a necessary condition to give Canada breathing space on trade. Have no egress options is stupid. From what I see, it will be naive to assume the Dems will be much more free-trade than Trump.

Correct, but one wonders if reals are so high because such a massive part of the budget is driven by the constitution, and highly unlikely to be reformed without a major crisis…which might be bad for bondholders.
