To me, this is Myrna Loy’s most iconic gown. (Photo from personal collection, originally owned by #MyrnaLoy herself.) #ILoveYouAgain #TCMParty

So happy #ILoveYouAgain is being shown at such a great time- it’s a classic #MyrnaLoy movie! #TCMParty (Photos from personal collection.)

Photographer and historian Mark A. Vieira sent me this new print of a BTS shot last month and I just love it! His prints are of such high quality. #LibeledLady #TCMParty

Can we take a moment to admire the remarkable restoration of this film? It’s so crisp and clean. I’m excited for the upcoming Loy/Powell releases from Warner this fall to see how much they’ve improved, too! #LibeledLady #TCMParty

My favorite #MyrnaLoy movie is #LibeledLady! The biggest part of my photo collection is from this movie. And most of these actually belonged to Myrna herself- I have pics she bought directly from M-G-M. Here’s a peek at some of the behind the scenes shots she personally selected. #TCMParty

Let’s chat #EvelynPrentice, another #MyrnaLoy movie I definitely will not be awake for tonight when it airs on #TCM. #TCMParty folks, return to this when you watch!

While we wait for the next #MyrnaLoy movie to start on #TCM, let’s cover another movie I won’t be awake to cover- #DoubleWedding! (Photo from personal collection.)

These first three #MyrnaLoy movies all included her singing and it makes me so mad that her number from "Love Me Tonight" is a piece of lost cinema. #TCMParty

Wondering why #TheSquall and #TheGreatDivide seem off center? From IMDB: First National/Warners contact-printed the negatives without re-sizing the original image to the smaller new standard. This results in the left of the frame being tighter, as the new soundtrack covers that area. #TCMParty

Daryl @maconfleetwood.bsky.social · 13h

"My ultimate vamp came in 'The Squall.' We shot that out at First National, in Burbank, which Warners had just taken over. Everybody seems to disown that picture, but everybody remembers it, even Alexander Korda, who directed it before going onto greater achievements." #MyrnaLoy #TCMParty

I love that the first day of TCM's focus on #MyrnaLoy starts so early, just as silents were turning to talkies. She played such vastly different roles early in her career- a fact focused on starting in magazines in the mid-30s when her career took off. #TCMParty

Holy shit, I just realized TCM aired the theatrical cut of “The Swarm”- it’s not available anywhere else but the very first VHS release! Believe me, I’ve tried to source this version for the zine because the extended cut is PAINFUL to watch. Sometimes longer isn’t better! #TCMParty

Now that it’s fall, I am getting back into Dreamlight Valley. Seriously, give me a few months off with this game, a pile of books, and my research and I’d be happy. (The horse’s name is Nightwind, thanks Rawhide Kid.)

The basement finishing has forced me to go through so many bins and boxes of stuff I have held onto for my entire life and let me tell you, it is so nice to weed through and pitch things. I HIGHLY recommend the process. I'm donating a TON others can use, but there is a lot of garbage and recycling.

Hear me out: the early to mid 2010s were the best era for streaming. Every company was dipping a toe in and you could actually stream SO MUCH. For example, the WWE Network had a ton of their owned properties in the form of streaming libraries of content, PLUS a slate of original programming.

Seems like "Finding Mr. Christmas" isn't coming back to Hallmark for a third season, which might be...okay. It was campy fun, but the winners of both seasons were misses. Looks like they are leaning back into their traditional programming instead.

So today, honor the memory of the guy who wanted to “make the world a little bit better for my having been here.” Go do something worthwhile today. Create something. Collaborate with others. Read something. Or go be silly simply because you can. Jim Henson would want you to.

I ended up reading biographies of two of the most tragic figures in Hollywood history this summer and they were excellent. David Stenn’s bio of Jean Harlow and Patricia Bosworth’s bio of Montgomery Clift are both swift, informative, and engaging reads.

It's sort of sad to realize that there's (most likely) no one currently around who knew Jean Harlow- or even met her. Even if they were a baby when she died, they would also (most likely) be dead by now.
