but thats the thing: this is neither poverty nor homelessness, because linus CAN leave this lifestyle whenever he wants. he turns down money and a house. fiona sangster has a great video about linus if u wanna hear more ab this!! clearly ur not enjoying this like i thought so ill leave it there

yeah, but thats how sdv is with LOTS of stuff. first, it is addressed somewhat, Gus gives him fresh food after catching him searching in the trash for example. & many things in sdv arent given fully fleshed out storylines even with the “main characters” because its a farming sim & not a visual novel

he has negative dialogue when gifted the treasure chest ab hating money and he hates the average modern lifestyle for himself. this is definitely a choice that hes satisfied with, even if it has a lot of downsides its still his choice and something he enjoys completely of his own free will

ur so right that its super fucked up the way that some villagers apparently treat him, so yes he does face unnecessary shit for his lifestyle, but he actively declines offers to let him live on ur farm and he talks a lot about how he loves how connected to nature he feels due to living in it

i see this is old but i wanna say that you could totally play sdv without farming much at all. like, live off of selling forageables & like gems from the mines, etc. just plant a few things for the community center with some good fertilizer for the quality crops bundle to finish that and ur good
