I'm person that been watching Dynamite, Rampage, and Collision, Dark and Elevation since it begin. For me, I haven't seen every AEW ppv ( I only seen All Out 2019, Double or Nothing 2020, Revolution 2021, and Revolution 2024.). So this rewatching of old Aew stuff is going to be fun for me.

North American based wrestling promotion All Elite Wrestling largely deals with hyperbolic, reactionary discourse from the wider wrestling community, and in this instance, it’s regarding the company’s newest innovation, the “Casino Gauntlet Match”, which is essentially a Royal Rumble that can end at any moment via pinfall, but goes along (almost) endlessly until said pinfall is achieved.

Despite the match only happening 3 times in company history, with the most recent one being nearly 5 months ago, a fan still believes AEW is somehow doing this match too frequently

I feel the same way, all 5 years that AEW has been on TV, I’ve seen content creators & fans straight up report inaccurate information, mainly because a lot of wrestling fans didn’t have access to the product to dispute/fact check it, only the hardcore fans did. I think folks are in for a ride

The IC Title doesn’t have that week-to-week momentum that it had with Gunther. For starters, they didn’t do enough with Sami’s reign, he was like 4-5 bangers short of Gunther’s standard. Bron’s had some good matches but his character is still ehhh & Jey lost it waaaaay too soon.

Five years in, AEW can still do first time match ups between Day 1 talent, & matches that have never happened between former WWE guys as well. Also, five years in, there’s legitimately high expectations for a women’s match on the card because of the division’s elevated workrate. LFG. #AEW

AEW shot itself in the foot the moment it went more WWE like, I’d say between DON 2023 to All In 2023, and the streak of All Out 2023 to Full Gear 2023, along with the introduction of the C2, is what got them back on track, despite the major missteps with the last few chapters of the Devil angle.

Say what you want about Death Riders vs. Rated FTR, but this angle immediately has gotten AEW a significant amount of eyeballs at a pivotal moment, at the end of a very hot PPV, that was supplemented with weeks of long-term TV based booking. TK got to the 2021 vibes by the end. #AEW

AEW’s recent main-event story arc, “The Deathriders” is a controversial narrative of Moxley & his crew (Trios champions PAC, Claudio & Yuta) & femme fatale Marina Shafir, betraying long time Blackpool Combat Comrade Bryan Danielson, mere months into his first AEW Championship reign, snuffing out his full-time career as well.

In Moxley’s words, more or less, this betrayal was done in earnest, with the hope that AEW’s roster will become as violent as he did during trying times, to dethrone his reign of terror & allow his generation to begin their journey into the sunset, as he did for Danielson.

Should be noted that Moxley is f***ng crazy.

In the months since, there’s been numerous scuffles, title changes, and violent altercations throughout the promotion as a result of this arc, including Moxley most recently (in-kayfabe) pulling the plug on AEW’s C-show, Rampage, a way of integrating the real life cancellation of the 1-hour extravaganza into the ongoing narrative.

As the story has endured its ebbs and flows, it’s drawn a varying degree of opinions, but at the moment, it’s one of the companies most popular angles, as it’s affected every part of the card since its inception, including the C2, the tag division, & the TNT Title scene. It now looks as if we will see how it further affects the Trios & AEW Title scene.

The first chapter of Rated FTR (Cope’s stable) vs. Death Riders already has 8.6M views on AEW’s Instagram, one of its highest viewed videos in quite sometime.
