Not particularly, actually. Compared to common handgun rounds, the 5.56/.223 is definitely more lethal, but it's quite small by rifle standards.

Exactly why civil rights matter. Free speech, carry rights, privacy rights, voting rights etc. If one currently has them, one will not always have majority protections, so having robust protections on these things matter.
