my concern is for terrestrial phone comms that can use starlink for back in no signal areas, with Starlink being a US company could US Govt agencies use the patriot act to see terrestrial phone data, that's a hell of a global intelligence data gathering and snooping capability musk has built

the charger is from british gas, get 8000 mile of free charging based on 3 miles per KwH , we are averaging 4.5 to 5 miles per KwH so about 12,000 miles of charge, split between the 2 cars we should be able to make the most of that has to be on a smart meter and connected to hive system :)

plugin isn't bad, 40-50 miles in full EV, some most journeys are EV, but work send me weird and wonderful places at times, so not having to worry about charging en-route is good just waiting for the 7kw charger to be installed, so currently using the granny charger for both cars, it works but slow

@m0taz.bsky.social has an Ioniq 5 if i remember right, my car is a tuscon plugin hybrid, so more space for holidays and plugin means no range anxiety on long runs, not doing bad in the 10k miles since i got it i have managed 102mph overall

suggestion is the new xiegu price and availability will be announced in September will be interesting to see the price, and also how mature the firmware is on release, normally xiegu products take 2-3 updates to fix the majority of the gremlins which is normally 6-12 months

problem is if it ends up under the see how much pollution will be caused by the oil onboard? hit the bridge, and or the engine room the vessel is disabled / scrap with minimal pollution, yes it can be towed to port but they can't deliver the oil to their customer
