On an unrelated note, I got a new toy the other day. In case anyone doesn't know, this is an AYN Thor, a retro gaming device. My spouse and I mostly intend to use it for DS, 3DS, PS2, and GameCube, (and maybe some Steam) since we mostly no longer have access to working versions of these things.

Gamescom's Opening Night Live was mostly pretty unremarkable for me, but I'll always pop off for Mega Man. Especially when they introduce an incredibly adorable new robot master like Twinkle Girl. ^_^ I immediately love her, so I had to draw her before too long. Okay, back to the comic! XD

Fairly important comic updates. Assuming you're one of my readers (or would like to be), please take the time to read it when you have a chance.

Okay! Big announcements time! This is all kind of important if you are following my work.

My Impossible Soulmate is coming back in full force in two weeks. I will share the chapter cover next week on Friday, August 28th. And then the following week, the first page of Chapter 9 will go up on Tuesday, September 1st.

To reiterate, because that may sound odd to my longtime readers, I'm going to be experimenting with a twice a week posting schedule this chapter. One page on Tuesday, and one on Friday. It's an unusual setup for me, but makes keeping on top of the workload a little less demanding, while also being sure the post days are spread out evenly. So new pages every Tuesday and Friday going forward, starting in September.

I also want to give a little heads up.

Chapter 9 of MIS is going to be an angsty one. Still lots of humor, and probably some of the cutest moments in the story yet, but also expect some moodiness. And while we're at it, the first two pages in particular are a bit on the dark, disturbing side, and even a bit violent.

As I've said before, if you enjoy modern comic book movies or shounen anime, I'm sure you've seen worse. Truth be told, I don’t know if this requires such a strong warning. But I know some folks are sensitive to this kind of thing. And I also recognize I did relatively light-hearted slice of life comic before MIS, so long time readers may just be surprised to see this from me.

(All that said, it is just the first two pages, and then the rest of chapter will be comparatively quite tame.)

Lastly, I don't think will affect many people, but going forward, MIS - and all art that I make - will not appear on DeviantArt. In fact, if you are reading this on DeviantArt, you can consider this my final post. It's not a decision I make lightly, and I've been kinda going back and forth on this for a few years now. The site has been on a rapid decline for some time, with one terrible decision after another already pushing away so many artists from the platform. Not the least of which, how it allows - and even encourages - the use of generative AI.

I'd held out for so long because I've been on the platform for twenty years now, and it used to be such an important place for me. It's where I got my start showing my art. It's where I first came out. It's where I announced Rain. I spent all that time building myself up from nothing there to gain a presence for myself as an artist. But honestly, with all the AI and bot activity, I'm sadly growing very skeptical of how much of my audience really is still there.

If you're one of the small few active DA users still following me there
(and only there), I encourage you to either come find me on social media or at least keep up with MIS/Rain/other stories on Comic Fury and/or Tapas
(links below), because I'm not going to budge on this. I won't be closing the account (at least, not any time soon), so you can continue to enjoy my work there, or you have plenty of time to make backups if you want. But I will not be adding any new art there. Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

With all that said, please look forward to the start of a new chapter in a new arc for My Impossible Soulmate this September, with new pages twice a week, every Tuesday and Friday.

Well, today is June 30th (as I write this), I think we can safely say I missed
the late June window. :P

I'm not going to mince words: I'm not doing great these days. To give the short short version, our move fell through, and our security deposit with it. Without getting into too many personal details, my sister-in-law, who's been living in our care for the last decade, fucked us over pretty bad, doing significant irreparable damage to our relationship with her in the process. Meanwhile, our two rabbits
are both elderly and disabled, and while we're doing everything we can for them, it's becoming more and more apparent that our remaining time with them is very limited. And they may go in close proximity.

To put it very very mildly, my spouse and I are both extremely tired and extremely depressed. We've been clinging to our distractions where we can, but it's been a rough month of feeling almost anything but Pride.

The situation isn't over either. I don't know how long things are going to persist like this, but for the known future, this is our life. So rather than do nothing but sulk and spiral, I have been trying to get back to work. And yes, it may be work, but it gives me some sense of normalcy and purpose. Besides, there's some cool stuff coming up in My Impossible Soulmate, and nothing excites me like getting to share new developments in a thing I'm writing with people who actually want to read it. So I've decided the healthiest thing I can do for myself is to get back to it.

It doesn't mean I'll be back to posting tomorrow. It does mean returning in July is still very plausible. Of course, I’ll let you know if anything changes there. :)
