Finnegan, my sweet horse, finally healed from a stubborn abscess above his eye. It took syringes, bandages, eye goo and a whole lot of trust. The lesson? Healing takes time. And trust was earned through presence, not perfection, through respect not force.

In December, we lost our 5-year-old Great Pyrenees to bone cancer. Yesterday I visited the farm where he was born—his mom and three siblings surrounded me as I sat in the grass and cried. Grief and gratitude held hands in that moment. Love never really leaves.
