This giant wolf spider, with a billion baby wolf spiders on its back, was on my porch. I put the wolf skeleton, passengers attached, in the garden, panic attack the whole time, until Ben got his ass home to relocate this fam into the woods. I have not sat outside since. Outside is ruined for me.

Made by the Shade, 2025 James Michalopoulos Oil on wood #ArtSky
Many of the buildings in Michalopoulos's paintings, including this one, reflect the influence of the Italianate architectural style. Hallmarks of the style include hipped roofs-often projecting or overhanging-supported by elaborate brackets, as well as decorative cornices in the shape of a segmented arch above windows and doors.

Inspired by the architecture of the Italian Renaissance (ca. 1400-1600), the Italianate style was popular in New Orleans between the 1850s and the 1870s. During this period, many new homes were built in the Italianate style, and its decorative features were often added to older structures.

[ colored version--watercolor and colored pencils ]

a backlit -something- that looks most like a man from the waist up stands at the end of a dark alley tunnel wearing an overcoat and top hat, a knife putting downward in its gloved right hand. spilling out from under the coat is an amorphous mass of gory flesh, fluids, and warping digits and appendages--the largest of which appears to be a huge claw-fingered left hand

#aimeMonday Builder of Nightmares: Fresh Coat of Darkness Sometimes building nightmares involves a paint roller and a suspicious amount of black. #HauntBuilder #HauntedHouse #BehindTheScares #HorrorArt #AIart #AIchallenge #aiartcommunity #aiartist #GenAI #GenerativeArt #SynthArt #BuilderofNightmares
A bearded older man stands in a narrow, darkened corridor while painting one of its walls black. He occupies the lower left half of the image, turned slightly toward the camera while holding a long-handled paint roller diagonally across his body. The roller reaches high onto the wall at upper right, where thick, uneven black paint covers a heavily textured surface. He has a bald crown with long gray hair at the sides and back, a very full white beard, round black-framed glasses, and a calm, mildly amused expression. His black T-shirt bears a distressed red and yellow “Dominion of Terror 2024” graphic, while his dark pants are marked with scattered paint. Both corridor walls are rough, irregular, and almost entirely black, creating a confined, cave-like passage. A worn wooden floor extends behind him into deep shadow, and the hallway narrows toward a barely visible staircase or raised area at the rear. Soft overhead illumination catches his face, beard, hands, and the wet texture of the painted wall while the far end disappears into darkness. The overall scene feels less like a finished haunted attraction and more like the practical, messy work happening behind the scares.

Tiffany Morris's kudzu apocalypse story is a visceral and tender nightmare. What does love look like after the world has ended? Read "The Neon Dread of Leaves" and more stories in The Writhing, Verdant End: www.cursedmorselspress.com/product/the-...
There was a quiet writhing of plants sighing and stretching green and blooming over the structures that once hummed busy with cash register beeps and screens chirping blue LED light: a time before the verdant insistence of growth, of blossoming. The peace of the cities became the peace of death: its mechanical rhythms of machinery and capital silenced.
