The "people should be free to use their private property" argument that YIMBYs use to justify relaxing zoning regulations is the wrong framing. What should be said is "NIMBYs should not be allowed to have a monopoly on access to the most productive plots of land."

The best wealth tax is a tax on land wealth. It can't move and unlike other types of wealth, it impacts cost of living. "A land value tax of just 0.2% would raise the same $20B the wealth tax promises. A 0.86% rate would fund California's entire $87B health and human services budget."

Freedom of speech doesn't cover written communication by literal definition, which means we can regulate social media however we want. You wouldn't be taking away anyone's rights because they could still touch grass and spread misinformation using their actual vocal chords IRL free of regulation.

Boebert saying that it's a "show vote" to vote to stop a bad war is indicative of the current GOP: 1. It's a show vote because Trump will just ignore the vote and keep the war going illegally. 2. The GOP members against the war (allegedly) won't hold Trump accountable through threat of impeachment.

Was just talking about this today and I realized what the problem was for me: the Army of the Dead being defeated in the North rather than in the South. We kept being told "winter is coming" but winter only makes it way to the North, where winter always comes, but should have ended in the South.

CA/NY/IL apathy leakage contributed to 77% of the apathy leakage across the nation for Kamala despite contribution only about 24% of the Biden/Harris vote total. Most of it was due to CA/IL though as leakage was 15.8%/11.7%, respectively, while NY had only 5.7% leakage as Trump gained 10% there.

Overall, Trump gained 3.08M votes, so if those votes came exclusively from Biden 2020, Kamala lost 3.18M votes to no one. Had those people voted for Kamala, it would have been Kamala with 78.2M to Trump's 77.3M, meaning she bled another 725K votes due to voter apathy from outside CA/NY/IL.

In just those 3 states alone, if you assume that the increased votes for Trump came at the expense of Biden 2020 totals, the cumulative amount of votes that went to Biden and not to Kamala or Trump is about 2.465M, which if added to Kamala's vote total would be 77.48M, outstripping Trump's 77.30M.

2.86% defected from the Libertarian candidate in 2024, so was the biggest source of new voters for Trump. McMullin's 0.54% probably significantly went anti-Dem as did the 0.5% that defected from Stein. But seems like we should hold special ire for the supposedly "principled" Libertarians for Trump.
