more a Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within than a Thunderbolt Fantasy. less a War of the Dragons but not quite a Demigod: The Legend Returns. the puppetry and practical effects are timeless. the y2k vfx and edit are earnestly of their era. i woulda worn out the tape if this had been at my Blockbuster.

i like to think i had something to do with it, but it's much bigger than the advocacy of any one individual on any one front. over the course of decades, some of us moved the mountain so that - maybe - others wouldn't have to!

Anyway if you have knowledge worth sharing make the effort and go out of your way to document it somewhere that's not this website or a discord server. You never know when these platforms are gonna go away but sometimes there will be a dude who backed up a PDF and forgot about it for 20 years

Did you know victims of the Ghost Ship fire of 2016? I'm looking for the music made by anyone who we lost to this tragedy. I have music by Nackt, Cherushii and Cash Askew, but if there is anyone else I have missed please please share with me! Thank you so much!!

Pretending the days after Sept. 11, 2001 were some kind of gauzy Hallmark special when we came together as a country is nauseating and ahistorical. The country went completely insane and has not recovered

honestly it took serious drilling to get it down to a reflex! mixing back and forth between both sides of a few plates that i knew really, really well to the point of being sick of those tunes, it was only a question of making the tiny adjustments. and a willingness to re-cue when it got cluttered.

i try to let my fingertips on the spindle tell me what's goin on. if they wanna pinch, i need to nudge the pitch down. if they wanna push, i need to nudge the pitch up. focus on connection between left earcup and left hand. watching the bouncing reflections of the light in the groove helps me too.

3yrs ago. is it timeless yet? watching the shit i like go in and out and in and out of style is one of the perks of being a producer

Sharing this crucial data because this is a plague that has followed me my whole radio career and I don't know what folks are expecting me to do with untagged files (or what I, a radio guy, am supposed to do with just a streaming Spotify link)

listening back to my dnb mix from the other night with an open mind 2hrs was just right pitch faders way down really opens these tunes up barely needed to touch the mixer selecting records worth playing from both sides makes great cohesion slightly clumsy blends don't really take away from gr8 songs

happy pride (8ch insert to direct out snake. clearly goes both ways if u know what i mean)

a 1 meter multi core audio cable is loosely coiled on top of a Gator mixer case. the tails at each end have red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, brown, gray insulation, the colors have faded slightly since new. the right end of the snake has 8 molded 1/4" TS plugs - the way it came from the Hosa factory. the left end of the snake has been customized to now have 8 1/4" TRS plugs that are covered in black heat shrink.

a digital vinyl system can't replicate beatmatching and mixing no-headphone by listening to the hi-hats coming off the needle. if you have never experienced this, ask an old head to show you. the tactile experience of music is a major component of audiophilia after all...

I love polished,high-quality music made in top-notch studios with skilled engineers, but I also genuinely love music born in a small room, created with minimal resources and a lot of ingenuity in order to express someone’s musical identity. I suppose I could call it “low-budget,high-ingenuity music.”
