Funny of the word “biohazard” and a strategically placed cc can get people to do their job!!!! Anyway within two hours of that email an outside company was hired to sanitize and close up the hole. IN CONCLUSION… I am learning how to be a bitch and IT MAY ACTUALLY BE THE ONLY WAY TO GET SHIT DONE.

I didn’t want to be a bitch! I didn’t want to cry or get angry and upset! But 24 hours of being SO NICE AND UNDERSTANDING, trying to trap the squirrel myself, got me NOWHERE! So I had to reach deep into my Connecticut White Woman Soul and…write a strong worded email cc’ing the LA Housing Authority.

My apt said the squirrel wasn’t their problem. They said their pest company didn’t handle wildlife/told me to call Animal Control. 311/animal control ALSO said they don’t handle wildlife and that I needed to hire a private company (what?!). It was ONLY after I melted down that anyone helped me!

At 27.5 hours there was a knock at my door: two maintenance guys heard about all I was dealing with and took pity on me, offering to help me free Chauncey. They removed the trash can and ensured he made his way out of my home! MY HEROES!!!

Shortly after, I sobbed in the “experience department” office and said the word “fuck” too many times to a supervisor who did not appreciate that by hour 25 I had lost all calm, cool, and composure. I regret being upset but in my defense I HAD BEEN VERY CALM COOL AND COMPOSED FOR SO MANY HOURS!!

And if you are wondering WHEN I had my full menty-b about the squirrel in my apartment it was around hour 24!!!! Which is also when I devised this genius contraption because, again, literally everyone—roommates, landlord, animal control—was refusing to help me!!!!

I bake cookies so well it inspires squirrels to risk their lives and get STUCK IN MY KITCHEN FOR 27 HOURS because no one—not my apt complex or animal control—would help me remove it! lmao

APPARENTLY I NEED TO CHANGE MY BUTTER RATIOS (browned vs. just melted) uuuuuuugh round two is only nominally better and that was mostly due to COOK TIME AND TEMP CHANGES They’re not bad but THEY CAN BE BETTER. Maybe I will swap out some of the browned butter for more brown sugar (vs. regular)?!?!
