Good Morning folks!

Today I (Cecil) am sharing the first concepts of Dexter Leon Rubio. He’s one of the main characters of the series and a good contrast to Cedars dark and cold appearance. I would like to note that Dex has gotten a bit of a redesign since these pieces, so these are outdated.

Both sketches have expressions from Capochiino’s “I’m so f***ing done 2” expression meme. I find these expression memes to be a fun exercise and helps me branch out from my default expressions. It’s also a good way to explore ways a character may express themselves.

This is the first proper sketch I did of Dex. The expression used for this one is B1.

While Cedar appears rather cold and has a dark color palette, Dex is brightly colored and warm. He’s loud and extraverted and will gladly voice his opinion.

Here in this pic it seems to be stumped of a witty comeback.

This is the second sketch I did of Dex. The expression used for this one is A3.

This sketch is for an older/future design of Dex. Do to his extreme bad luck and the fact he’s a pureblooded human with no powers he’s gathered even more scars and has even lost a finger. Good thing he’s ambidextrous and rather good at adapting to his situations.

Today I (Cecil) am sharing the first concepts of Cedar Darkwood. The overarching story of Lone Thicket Case Files is related to Cedar and those close to him.

Both sketches have expressions from Capochiino’s “I’m so f***ing done 2” expression meme. I find these expression memes to be a fun exercise and helps me branch out from my default expressions. It’s also a good way to explore ways a character may express themselves.

While Cedar isn’t the most expressive person sometimes something pushes him enough to be a bit flabbergasted.

Even here it seems someone did something extremely dumb.

Good morning/afternoon/evening.

As I (Cecil) make progress on art as well as actual game development, starts soon. I will start sharing some old art and concepts for Lone Thicket Case Files.

I will try post once or twice a week as time allows. I want the old art to eventually lead into the new stuff and into snippets of the game’s development.

The original plan for the game to be a visual novel / point-n-click game has also shifted into it being a PSX / Retro 3D game. So big changes are head to this series!

I will share this little peak though, so you aren’t left waiting for the next post for some art. ;)

Heyyo, everyone~! How are you doing these days?

… I’m not doing well, honestly. 2025 definitely didn’t start off on the right foot, lol, but Happy New Year’s to y’all!!

I’m having a hard time right now cuz my family situation is worsening. It’s not set in stone yet, but in the best worst case scenario, I’ll have to move out and start working freelance again to support myself, which means less and less time to work on N.

And here I thought I’ll be able to focus on it this year, lol… But yeah, relying on savings could only get me so far when I’d have to pay rent, food, etc.

TW: Mistreatment and Abuse

Basically, my dad is very controlling and won’t give me my passport to visit my boyfriend, Uintie, for a while in the Netherlands, much less to live in a safer country as a queer man someday. He holds most of his sons’ documents, even when two of us are adults and have the right to hold onto them ourselves. Without them, we can't even buy a house, get any insurance, etc.

I’m currently in the process of reporting the situation to the authorities. I don’t have much hope in it because my religious city is extremist and holds parents at a pedestal ( I even have to call my boyfriend a friend just to get anywhere with it ). We had police involved before and though they were sympathetic to me, they were ultimately on my parents’ side.

From the start, my dad has been walking all over my rights as a human being and this is just the last straw. To get my rights back, I’ll have to cut myself out of the family registry and null his parental influence.

So yeah, hopefully the authorities can listen to me and give me what is rightfully mine without me needing to do anything drastic. I’d rather not divide my focus from N too much, even if it means staying with them until I can support myself enough to live apart.

It’s also potentially dangerous because my dad can lash out, see me as insane again, and medicate me himself by locking me in my room. He has no concept of boundaries and came close to doing that before, so I’m approaching everything with extra caution.

It also helps that Uintie is by my side with every step. Keeps me calm.

Wish us luck everyone! And thank you so much to all the people here supporting me. It really means a lot.

Intro Concept Art of Lune--one of Alyx's 9 Love Interests in N: Fruits of Hearts--in one of his casual outfits. He is a humanoid fantasy species called tigra with multicolored messy bobbed hair. He has bright yellow eyes, hidden behind long bangs and circular glasses. Born with pale skin, he would easily get freckles under the sun if not for his penchant to wear long-sleeved clothes. Instead, he only has a spattering of freckles across his nose and cheeks. He has fluffy tiger ears and a long striped tail that curl to the ground.

Hands tucked behind his back, Lune stands with a shy smile on his natural black-colored lips, wearing a casual traditional garb of his nation, Uryuean, over a handmade fashionably-patched sweater.

Some details include; a gold locket around his neck, a chamomile motif, detachable robe, bandaids on his fingers, a waist bag, and a pair of Ceas, Uryues casual shoes.

The Uryues casual garb he's wearing, Vaeyst, can be paired with many types of clothing underneath, but usually contains Uryues national motifs (diamond shapes, water abstraction, etc). He doesn't wear the belt skirt due to personal reasons.

What is Lunar Mycena?
Lunar Mycena is to be a very small independent game “studio” consisting of two people. CuriousCecil (Cecil) as the creator and lead/main developer of the projects under Lunar Mycena. ZipItLockIt (Locket) assists mostly with writing and character design.

Why Lunar Mycena?
To simply put it-there is a large fungi theme in our projects.

Background description:

What are you currently working on?
We are currently working on Lone Thicket Case Files (LTCF). LTCF is planned to be a series of semi-episodic dark/horror, supernatural, detective games. Most of which will be in a visual novel and point-n-click style.

What is LTCF?
New Downpour, the city of rain. New Downpour is a chaotic city brimming with the supernatural and the anomalous. Due to the eccentric nature of this city many detective agencies have come and gone, trying to keep everything in order. Lone Thicket Detective Agency is a relatively young organization but has already become a major player in the competitive investigation world of New Downpour.
You follow Cedar Darkwood, a tall, strange man, as he deals with various cases throughout the city.

This project is 18+ due to dark and mature themes.

The VN focuses on the queer relationship between Qi, their assigned guard, and their abductor. It deals with themes of authenticity, trust, and letting go.
