It never hurts to ask the Artist you want work from what you can get within your budget too. Many people I know included myself have payment plan options and can work with you on those things but if it's not possible all it takes is a little communication overall to get a simple answer.

Gentle reminder that it's always ok to say to an artist you asked for commission their price are in fact out of range for YOU. But please don't ghost or tell them it's too pricey, even worse harrass or belittle them, art is a luxury and most of us are in fact underselling ourselves.
